Mine was also scheduled for Dec. 20th. However I just called Amazon Bulky order Service line and was told they don't have anything in their warehouse, and Amazon is currently negotiating with their supplier to seek for a solution. I was offered $60 per bike as compensation though. The lady who answered the phone told me she never got this issue before during her past 10+ years of experience in the bulky item service center, and Amazon has already escalated this issue as of today. She did help me submit three tickets to the headquarter and ask me to wait for another 72 hours for a response. Let's see what happens next.

Just chatted with Amazon to discuss the screenshot. The rep confirmed that Amazon IS a authorized store and the Rattan note only applies to non-Rattan and non-Amazon 3rd party Sellers. The rep also confirmed that if anything is wrong, Amazon will help.

He also confirmed that the product is returnable within 30 days.

Does anyone remember the Taylor Made Golf Club pricing error? Same thing. Someone hacked the price for a full set of irons. Taylor Made honored every order and shipped them out. I would have bet my house no orders would go through. I think it happened over a holiday weekend, and IIRC a disgruntled internal employee changed the pricing. No one caught it until Monday morning.

I think the point is that the bikes are just made in a supplier factory in China. If Rattan ordered 5000 bikes, the bikes were manufactured and labeled with Rattan stickers or whatever. But then if Rattan cancelled the orders with that supplier and chose to go with another supplier, then that original supplier now has 5000 Rattan bikes. They can sell it to Amazon, and then Amazon can sell the Rattan bikes, but they wouldn't be supported by Rattan.

Very similar, but the Rattan has some changes (different LCD module, reinforced rear rack, seemingly reinforced head tube, probably more).
This is extremely common with Chinese manufacturing; often, on Amazon, with various different brands, you're basically buying products made in the same factory with different names and different factory options/customizations. I've seen it many times.
This might be the actual factory making these bikes, or perhaps multiple factories are producing bikes based on the same design and specifications.

This is now the #2 best seller on Amazon in e bikes. Several thousand could have their orders cancelled, and the sleazeball who put this business model together benefits by having their ebikes #1, 2, and 3 sellers just before the holiday. Just a guess, but imagine if it pays off for them. It's no skin off Amazon's back, everything is automated. Hopefully they offer a $20-$30 inconvenience credit.

I don't think that would be a very good business model. If all these get canceled the item page will be bombarded with negative reviews and their social media pages filled with angry customer complaints. That wouldn't be a very smart business plan.

It doesn't even need to be cancelled orders. If a factory makes Rattan bikes, nothing stops the factory from just making as many bikes as it wants and hijacking the brand for itself. China is going through depression levels of unemployment right now. Factories are sitting idle, workers are told to go on 10 month holidays, someone is going to get desperate and creative. If they can hijack a brand, sell at break even pricing and push warranty and support problems off onto the brand, then why wouldn't they? At least they keep their workers employed and churn through supplies.
