Reason why people love the v3 is that it doesn't have a price for subscription

I got those last time they were a front page deal for the same price, and got Samsung 128GB SD cards, now I have up to 12 days of 24-hour continues HD 1080P recording.

Pretty neat

This is where I found it. Still made me setup the cam through the app. Once you have working, power off, plug in the SDcard, and power up. After it installed & reboots, the slider for RTSP was in the settings. The slider didn't want to stay "ON", but RTSP was easy to verify using VLC and then using that link I setup iSpy. One thing to think of during all this is to use a DHCP reservation on your router to set a static IP, I couldn't do it through Wyze.
Thanks. I believe this is the RTSP firmware that Wyze released at one point and pulled down later.

The other poster mentioned a 3rd party software (with RTSP) for Wyze. I am curious to find out what that is.

A year ago, Home Depot sale 2 for $35. So I got 4 cameras. After installed and saw the quality so good. I brought 6 more for my sister and brother house. Today, I saw this post and tell my sister about the price. She tell her friend and ask me to order 6 more. So I just ordered 2 orders for them. I installed many cameras from different brand name. To me, this is the best camera, quality, and price. BTW, thank you for the post.

I have Wyze pans v2, and two cam v2 for 2 or 3 years with no issues. I got a floodlight with cam V2 a few months ago. No subscription but I have a few days of view playback. I use the pans inside the house and turn them on when I leave the house however I use a smart plugin to turn them on/off to avoid hacking the cam while we are home. I got the cam v3 two months ago but I can't add them to view playback so only notifications video clips and 24-hour SD card recording (never checked the SD cards). Price wyze, they worth it. Wyze scale is good for one year then the batteries start dying in one day. I have a Eufy 2k doorbell with dual battery and power but no subscription or view playback. the detection zone doesn't work and their CS couldn't help although they sent me 3 replacements, it detects any motion outside the zone too. I have Eufy 2 pro, the battery can hold for 3-4 months after the first year, and the motion detector works only 10' away, they sent me a free motion trigger as they couldn't figure out the issue although they sent me another replacement.

I pulled the trigger when $10 off discover worked this time around. $50 plus tax and free shipping. Not a bad deal. There were 5 in stock before I bought it. I was thinking of possibly keeping one in the car assuming it will disconnect when I drive and auto reconnect when I park in front of my house or when its near hot spots. Would this work?

Probably, I order after you. Because when I order only 4 left in stock Big Grin.

About your question, the WIFI is only for you to use a phone or tablet to connect with the camera. So you could live view, playback, or get motion notification. Without WIFI or HOTSPOT, the camera still works and recording to SD card. As long it has power plug in. And when close by, it will auto reconnect to which ever WIFI that you setup with.

I'm wondering. Why you want to put a outdoor camera on your car? Confused

This will work at one location automatically. If you set it up on home wifi for example, then take it to work, then home it will reconnect when you're back home.

To connect at work you would have to reset. It's simple but manual can't change wifi just from phone. But it would keep recording to the sd card as long as power is connected.

I bought the og telephoto and pan tilt thinking I could get away with no subscription and just photo notification plus SD card. Found out the pan tilt won't let you jump the SD card playback from the screen shot, forcing you to jump around before scrubbing the timeline for notification icons. What's worse is the telephoto has 5 minutes for fricking cooldown. This is a goddamn shame, wyze isn't about value any more it's just another goddamn bait and switch consumer tech company making their products impractical without paying a sub.

Do NOT buy their doorbell v2 because the 5 minute cooldown means doorbell clicks don't even notify you during this cool down period. Shame on wyze for these egregious decision making

It already seems they have taken down the RTSP firmware, but it is available elsewhere. I bought one last week and used that file. To my surprise, it was very easy to setup, and works seamlessly with iSpy. Is it fair to assume once RTSP is setup, it will communicate over your LAN regardless of what Wyze does? Might as well buy these and convert to RTSP now, knowing they will work if and when I need them.
Hm this seems complicated but fun. How long does it take to setup? I can't imagine the automations would be easy especially since I can't code lol

Would one just buy a cigarette lighter adapter for the standard plug? What about battery drain? Not sure how much these draw but I suppose an 8 hour work day shouldn't kill a battery. Then again you have some cars the kill any USB/cig lighter power when the key isn't in the ignition so I suppose this is widely variable

So if it needs to be plugged in, an external usb battery plugged into the car could do the job. When driving it charges up and then once you park the battery drains. This would allow you to get some video of either an accident or a theft. My apartment only needs 2 really, so I feel like this would be the best use for the third one.

i wish there was a market for outdoor usb power supplies though. wyze's outdoor power supply isn't sold much on amazon and they're sold out on their own store. I don't see ANY real alternatives on amazon either.

That being said, i have a wall wart outside under the eave of my garage and it's been fine this year through all the rain, but for less covered locations i'd like better options.
I've had one out in the elements with one of the cheap covers for 3 years now, rain, snow and ice and still working great

I know everything got more expensive since last year also salaries went up as well. So $2 increase is really fair to me.

Eh a $2 increase doesn't seem like much in the grand scheme of things but year over year companies keep charging more due to necessary wage increases which just keeps the cycle going

Also is this the last model to support RTSP?
