They are pretty much considered on par with anything in mid-tier headphones ($150-300). In that segment you can get different to suit your individual sound preference, but there isn't anything that is just leaps and bounds better on the average. There will always be someone that just has to disagree, but this is general consensus.

AKG K702's are considered to have among the widest soundstage of any headphone, but they have a slightly boosted midrange. I personally find that boost ideal for acoustic guitar, classical, synth pads, and soft jazz-like music. Bass is a little weak to my ears even boosted with an iFi amp with x-bass. The 400se is said to have an average soundstage and a small dip in mids ofter 1KHz. The AKG K702 is a little controversial. Some love it; some don't. It's a sizzling, airy headphone if I had to describe it in a couple words.

The Sennheiser 6XX has a more flat midrange whereas the Hifiman headphones usually have a dip after about 1000Hz. The soundstage on the 6XX is considered by some to be below average while the 400se represents the average. Neither is very controversial. Both have a sound most people enjoy. The Hifiman build quality is often maligned; the Sennheiser build quality is most often praised.

In short, the 400se is considered to be a very good sounding headphone. Build quality is questionable historically, but some think it is worked out. Open backs are more comfortable for listening for longer periods, and they have the potential to have wider sounding soundstages where it sounds like things are happening outside of your head, but they usually lack bass heavy tone that you might be accustomed to from closed back headphones.

Guys, is this website legit? I placed an order for which I received an order confirmation email with a receipt that has no taxes shown? And also, its been a week and I still did not hear from them with the order status update.

Anyone with the similar situation?

I received my headphones a couple of days ago. The company shipped the headphones through UPS. For b stock these headphones look great! They sound really good. I'm just using my phone with the headphone jack. I'm still searching for a small dac/amp

I received my shipment from a Chinese sender. My headphones appeared to have the box seal broken but looked absolutely brand new.

I own a ton of nice-ish headphones including some that I really like: Sennheiser HD800s, Beyerdynamic DT990s, Philips Fidelio, Senn HD650s and HD600s. This set measures up. A steal at twice or thrice the price. I'll be keeping an eye out to see if these go on sale again -- nice to be able to walk around risking just $59 for such superlative sound.

What? But according to Bassically and all the morons that downvoted my first post, you don't need one!
I mean my rooted v30+ is good enough for driving them, but it has a built-in dac. I'm sure not all phones will be able to drive them properly. Try them. At this price it would be insane not to buy one. It was a no-brainer and i didn't hesitate.

I actually looked at the V30 specifically because it has a DAC. I think we can both agree that makes it a special case though, and it can drive more demanding headphones than most phones.

Also, sadly, I think the LG phone line is seriously underrated/underappreciated.

Yes!! 👍
I love how easy it is to customize LG phones. I have also owned, rooted, unlocked the HTC G1, LG G3, G4, and G7. I still use my Frankensteined, unlocked V30+ as my daily driver, with the unlocked G7 as my backup. If you can still find one that's clean, then scoop it up! Battery is still good after 6 years. 😊
