We got an open-box excellent Ultra 2 from
Best Buy with Toal membership (AppleCare+ included) for 662+taxes during Black Friday. If it comes back to around that I'd recommend picking that up as an open-box.
At or around that price we justified it with the following:
- Brighter screen
- More durable/scratch resistance
- Miscellaneous additional features (siren specifically just in case)
- Chase Freedom card (or Best Buy card) offers 18-24m 0% interest
Lastly, we do a lot of 3rd party sales with tech. In our area, the Ultra 1 is selling for ~575-615 currently. I figure for 700 after tax with an open-box + AppleCare, we only lose roughly 100 bucks when we're ready to sell in 2 years. Compared to the S8 in our area that has dropped about 175.
So in 2 years, an ultra is cheaper in the long run and at 0% interest we're paying 39/month.
Hope that helps!
A quick Google search showed that a lot of people are complaining about this issue with the Ultra 2 and the Series 9. With the most recent update (watchOS 10.2) the issue still isn't fixed. Apparently Apple is aware of the issue and hopefully another software/firmware update will fix it soon. Just FYI.

It´s more fast and the screen bigger, I just trade a Series 8 in bestbuy for $235, I bought it at target refurbished for $180.

And no Apple does not consider this an issue and it won't be fixed unfortunately.
