I got a similar one from ebay for $130. It looks the same as the one posted here. It's very loud and slow. There is no dust collection system but you can print it from a file from thingiverse (search for cnc 3018 accessories or upgrades). It took me 2-3 hours to assemble. I use Easle to run the cut since I have free 3 year subscription for x-carve but you can use other free softwares as well.
If you need to cut small stuff using woods, then it will do the job. Overall, it's a decent little machine to get you into CNC. But if you want to get into something bigger like woodworking, I'd get an x-carve or shapeoko or onefinity

Are we married to the same woman? I finally got our laser engraver working (had to rewire connections) long enough to smoke up the house…a year ago. Now it sits idle next to the Brother vinyl cutter and two laminators.
Mine is going next to her brand new Cricut!

Yes, but the working area is 30x18x4.5cm, small. An enclosure for mice.

can this thing cut .5mm copper?
Yes, copper is pretty soft. Just make sure to use quality bits if you want good final finish.

Aight, is there any place I should start looking at?
All of these desktop CNCs are labeled in such a fashion where the number is actually the bed dimensions.

Higher the number, the bigger your X and Y axes will be.

As for where to get them, that naming convention is used everywhere. If you don't want to wait for it to come by boat via Ali or eBay, you can spend a bit more and find them on Amazon.

For gantry and spindle upgrades, there's plenty of modding guides on Reddit or various forums. Some people even swap in a 1/3HP router, but that's mostly for woodworking.

Aight, sick, thanks! Didn't expect it to be that simple, I figured I'd be going down a new rabbit hole to make my own keyboard cases

so if it arrives DOA, just remember that monoprice does not pay for return shipping. So if you bought this item for $152 and it arrives dead expect to pay $160 at UPS to send it back.

Will likely not cut aluminum (~1/8" thick) unless you have all day (15 hours for basic designs) without a major router upgrade and quality bits, and would still create enormous chatter. Still fun though! I used a DIY one this size of similar design and spec for wooden signs. The motor drivers skipped a step at the 8 hour mark and ruined a sign or two because I was pushing my feedrates too high. Even soft MDF took like 8+ hours per sign with minimal lettering and detail. It wasn't really the right tool for the job (better for PCB traces and engraving), the motor drivers needed more cooling, and perhaps the motors were undersized with the wrong pitch of leadscrew too so take my cautions with a grain of salt.

I recommend Niagara cutter if they are still around for end mill bits.
