Got mine yesterday and it's a lovely guitar except it looks like someone returned it already with some nice scratches to boot!

FWIW, This is my 3rd guitar from Adorama and first issue I've had w/ them.

What are the chances this is damaged in some way? Why would it be at this price?

I'm curious have you played any other Strats? If so how would you compare them to this one?

Other than the Dark Night I had for a day the other Fender strat was a Player SSS. Sadly, didn't play the Dark Night much at all because of the high action but I do remember really liking the pickups and the neck. The Aerodyne pickups are very clear and distinct in that you hear each string ring out. The neck and middle pups also have a decent amount of bass and it's not muddy at all. The neck profile reminds me more of an Ibanez with it's thinner C profile. The satin finish is very smooth and slick. It came out of the box set up pretty well and the frets are well finished. The bridge is very comfortable to rest your palm on because of the design with the saddle height adjustments in the back of the saddle instead of on top. The upper tone control is for the neck and middle pickups while the bottom tone control is for the bridge. The other "Fender" strat is a 40th anniv. Squier which is also almost flawless. The alnico pickups on it are quite nice (not as much bass as the Aerodyne) and even though the neck is glossy it's fairly slick and the fretwork and all is well done. My main strat for the past 15 years or so is (was?) a Yamaha PAC804 with Seymour Duncan pups. Hope that helps.

Looking back through my orders I see that this is the fifth guitar I've purchase from Adorama and all but one has arrived factory sealed and in perfect condition. One of them had been previously opened but it too was in perfect condition.

Iconian has provided some excellent guitar deals but has also did some serious damage to my wallet over the years. lol

Will this deal ever come back?

I saw it was an only SlickDeals special and has happened 3-4 times.

It looks cool, great value, and I'd never get into $2000 range guitars unless I become a millionaire (maybe by 2036.)

I liked my Player, but sold it when I found semi-hollows. It'd be nice to have an SSS strat American though!
