    Have many cats and many monestera plants. Never had any problems. Cats like to play in leaves. Unless they are gnawing on the plant, should not be an issue.

    Look on your local FB Marketplace. Plenty of people selling cuttings on the cheap. If you know how to leave it in water to grow roots and then transfer to soil you can get it much cheaper.

    **Edit - just stopped by Trader Joe's. Saw a jumbo monstera that was also 2-3 ft. Thought it was going to be more expensive than the ones I saw before but still rang up at $12.99. Great

    FYI - our local Trader Joe's sells a smaller version for $12.99. For some that might be more worthwhile if you're patient and have time to let it grow. This is still a solid deal though.

    If they drink water steeped in the leaves that could probably be a problem too. If you keep them indoors and water precisely you are probably fine. But other people might use a dish under the pot and overwater, or keep them outside where leaves fall in puddles, and then that might be another risk.

    These are also good to grow in an aquarium, along with pothos. Great for filtering the water for your critters. Please look up toxicity hazards before putting in your tank.     Agreed. My friend and I both have monstera and cats and never had issues with them. Cats know what is toxic based on their instinct
