Unfortunately, HP provides a generic manual for multiple laptop models with the usual disclaimers. Without a serial number, there is always a possibility some information contained in the manuals doesn't apply to a specific model or configuration. That being said, look at the Maintenance and Service Guide beginning on PDF page 40 (document page 34). Draw your own conclusions.
FYI, a search on HP PartSurfer for 17-cn3034wm (8R077UA) indicates an 8GB memory module can be ordered for this model.

If you look at the Recommended System Requirements in the link below, Epic suggests 16GB RAM and a dedicated GPU. This computer has neither.

This computer arguably satisfies the Minimum System Requirements detailed in the above link. Keep in mind Minimum System Requirements is first and foremost designed with potential market in mind; however, while you *might* be able to get Fortnite to run -- perhaps at (very) reduced settings -- it probably would not be a good experience. Certainly not the way the developer intended for the game to be enjoyed.

I don't play Fortnite, so grain of salt on anything I say specifically about the game. That being said, I'm a long-time gamer going back to the days of Sublogic's Flight Simulator. Never had the best PC hardware, and at times not even close, lol. I learned to tweak things and reduce the eye candy on many occasions when the game wasn't playable on max settings.

It's probably going to be a challenge to find a decent gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU for ~$500. So if you can find one with a Radeon 680M integrated GPU for ~$500, take a good look at it. The 680M is the previous generation (RDNA 2) iGPU from AMD; it has been replaced by the 780M (RDNA 3) in some Zen 4 mobile CPUs but there isn't that much of a change. Laptops with a 780M will likely be higher priced than your proposed budget. I just bought a HP EliteBook 845 G10 with a Ryzen 7 7840U CPU and Radeon 780M GPU for @$1K (including a travel charger so I could take advantage of the Amex promo).
Hopefully SD members can find a great deal for you that fits your budget.

Now if the laptop case is sealed and can't be opened by the user, that's a different issue.
