Wait for Blackwell (50-Series). Unless you jump to a 4090, it's not worth it performance wise from a 3080.
Lowest I've ever seen this go. Ordered. Thanks!
Pay the extra 100, get 7900 xtx with 24 gb of vram. No regrets. Card handles anything. Don't pay the nvidia tax. It's not worth it

Doesn't matter. Cross compatible now.
Only newer G-sync displays. Old models with a hardware G-sync module do not support Freesync.

Regardless of how fast the pixels go, that is too little memory for the price...

7900xtx is $50 more, 24% faster, 50% more vram.

Even at this price the 4080 is a silly choice.

I've owned ~40 different gpus in the past decade. I've never noticed a difference in drivers between AMD and Nvidia. COD and Halo Infinite were glitched on Nvidia for months. Switched to AMD and it was fixed. Then there were glitches on AMD with something I was doing, switched back to Nvidia and it was fixed. I'm currently back on AMD.

TLDR, both manufacturers have issues with drivers at any given time. I have 18 years of experience and have owned more cards than most people will own in a lifetime and I don't notice a difference. Buy the most FPS per dollar and disregard brand loyalty.
7900xtx is not "24% faster" than the 4080 except for a game or two. And in that regard the 4080 has a game or two where it's ahead by similar margins. In reality the 7900XTX is about 5% faster in normal games, 10% slower in ray-traced games, and 10% slower where upscaling is used (DLSS vs FSR). Plus the 7900xtx is dumping anywhere from 50-100W extra into your case AND cannot take advantage of DLSS or CUDA.

If you're saving $200 then sure go for the 7900XTX but if it's around the same price go 4080 all day.

The 4080 is out of stock. And cannot get myself to buy the 4070 Ti due to the 12GB VRAM. If I build a new system, it'll be set for the next 7+yrs or something. And the way newer games want more VRAM, I'm sure 12GB will show its age after even 3-4 yrs. At these prices I might as well spend $750 on a 7900 XT than $670 on a 4070Ti. Yes, the performance is mostly similar and 4070 Ti has better RT and upscaling, but considering the length of time I'll use this system, I need to heavily consider what the potential performance gap will be after 4-5 yrs or so.

Games with Unreal 5 have just started coming out, and it generally has heavier requirements than Unreal 4. I'm sure developers will push limits on VRAM requirement as years go by. My guess is that the 20GB VRAM on 7900XT will age much better than the 12GB on 4070Ti. At least for me, no point getting the 4070Ti even though it's cheaper than 7900XT with this sale.
I pulled the trigger on a 7900xtx and I don't regret it whatsoever. Completely destroys every game that I throw at in 4k, max settings.

You took a good call. I'm going to go AMD myself due to their higher VRAM. The only problem is that prices have crept back up. My hope is that AMD will reduce their prices a bit once the NVidia SUPER cards are released. A lot of people prefer NVIDIA cards but aren't thrilled about the anemic VRAM on even their mid-upper tier cards. The SUPER cards will alleviate that issue and I think AMD will need to react.

I probably still wont consider the SUPER cards, as I'm sure they would be priced high. Knowing NVidia they'll charge a $100 surcharge for just a bit more VRAM combined with essentially the same chips as the current crop. My guess is there will be meager performance benefits (if any), other than better future proofing by way of more VRAM. Folks are expecting $1100 for the 4080 SUPER and $900 for the 4070 Ti SUPER. I would wager both will settle at about $100 less eventually (i.e. $1000 and $800 respectively). But that's still too high!

Did the exact same thing. Just another crappy thing to come out of the pandemic shortage was Nvidia realizing people would pay absurd prices to scalpers. 3080 msrp was 699 and 4080 was 1100. I'm with EVGA, I'm done doing business with them.

I have a evga xt ultra 2080 super that has served me well and still does but I now have a large 4k 120hz tv that has hdmi 2.1 support that the 20 series cards just didn't have. Is this a good card to run triple 27 inch gsync 165hz 1440p acer predator monitors with. Also can I power these via display ports and then use the hdmi port for large screen (75 inches) 120hz gaming? Built my rig 4 years ago. Solid and 2700X 32gb ram ssds watercooled closed loop etc.. any comments or advice would be helpful. Paid $600.00 4 years ago for this card at Microcenter. Only reason to upgrade is the 120hz tv. Are there any other cards that I can use. Would be using the 4k setting on non competitive games like Elden Ring and Baldurs Gate 3.

OK, you guys realize they're starting to unload them because a refresh is coming next month, right? It's very likely that more powerful cards, with more VRAM on some of them, will be coming at possibly lower prices that the ones they will be replacing. With that said, it's still a hell of a deal for a 4080, and the 4070Ti, although the Ventus line definitely does feel cheap, and IMO for the 40 series, looks pretty crappy too. The Gaming X Trio is nice, though, and if they had this deal a couple of months ago, I'd be all over it. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I ended up deciding that for the price difference, it made more sense picking up a 4090, so I got one of those, and it's great, but honestly, the 4080 was just as good for my needs, if not even a bit better because of its lower power consumption, and less worry about melting power connectors.
