That's not how this works. This is is a patent dispute. Apple isn't going to pull features so they can sell a worse watch – they will settle with Masimo (the plantiff who owns the Blood O2 patents) and go back to selling the watch. If there is a ban, it probably won't last more than a few weeks while they hammer out the details. Buying this on speculation that it will be worth more is silly. (Buy it because it's a good watch!)

You mean more valuable because if Apple loses, the new models will have downgraded tech and the current ones will be both more capable and more rare.

I don't know about licensing. CEO of Masimo was interviewed on CNBC today and said no one from Apple had reached out to them as of today despite Masimo's attempts to contact Apple about licensing.

Apple seems to have all their hopes pinned on pressuring the Biden admin to bail them out of the ITC ruling. Doesn't seem likely, but I guess we'll see. Seems likely they'll need to disable or cripple the SpO2 reading in the short term. If you can disable updates on these watches, I would or you might find yourself losing a feature you paid for.

Class action lawsuit against Apple if they remove such a huge feature as this. I have asthma and use the blood oxygen sensor all the time.

It wouldn't be the first time. Google had to remove features from their smart speakers that infringed a Sonos patent. Even if something like that happens, I expect it would be short term. If Apple refuses to license the Masimo patent, they have enough resources to work around it eventually.

At some point apple will pay to use the product or offer a huge amount to settle this dispute. If Apple and Samsung can work things out. I doubt masimo wont agree to a settlement and life will go on. In the meantime one court or another will allow apple to once again sell the products in question.

Apple announced that they are suspending ultra2 sales soon. Not sure if it makes sense to buy something that has great chance of being discontinued soon

Once the Apple watch ban goes in effect, you will become a criminal fugitive with this contraband. You will have to hide it from your friends and family. You will always be looking over your shoulder and having to check your blood oxygen levels in secret. Such a small discount is not worth the hassle.
