I know cost is much different, but would this beat Sonos arc, sub, and two ones? Debating on that or something different

There's tons of reviews on this particular model. Check other SD older threads as well. I personally own this one and the q990c. For this price you can't beat the quality of sound being offered. It also activates other features if you pair it with a Samsung tv. Overall I would give it 8.5/10

Whether to go for this Q910C or wait for the Q990C to have a lower sale price?

From what I can tell, the Q910C has a smaller subwoofer and soundbar with fewer speakers than the Q990C. The Q910C has smaller rear speakers than the Q990C. The Q910C rears have drivers facing one direction, but the Q990C rears each have three drivers facing toward you, toward the ceiling, and sideways.

But at current prices, is the difference worth $400 more to get the Q990C? Or save $400 and get the Q910C?

I like that this has 9 channels for each of my 9 ears.

Actually, how exactly does this help over 5.1? Especially if it's all in a soundbar form.

Some of the drivers point upward, to bounce sound off the ceiling and make it sound like that helicopter is actually above you. Some face outward, to widen the sound stage even more. Try doing an Atmos demo somewhere. In movie theaters, they have actual speakers above you or in the ceiling pointing at you.

For soundbars, they point the speakers upward to bounce off the ceiling. That's one difference between the Q910C and Q990C: the rear satellites in the Q990C also have upward facing speakers (and outward facing speakers) to enhance the "sound bubble" effect when playing atmos or other encoded audio with sounds that come from above/to the sides. The Q910C rear satellites have speakers that face only forward (not up, and not out to the sides)

EDIT: to clarify, it's not all in the sound bar. The Q910C includes satellite units separate from the sound bar. You typically position those behind you. here, they are considered wireless because they do not have a wired connection to the sound bar. However, they are wired to the subwoofer, which is separate from and wirelessly linked to the soundbar.

So you put the sound bar under the TV in front of you, and you put the subwoofer somewhere behind you or to the side of you, and then you wire the satellite surrounds to the subwoofer and put those on the wall behind you.

Keep in mind, the width of the sound bar and help to widen the sound stage. The Q990C, for example, is like 48 inches wide *AND* has some speakers pointing sideways to even further widen it. I forget the width of the Q910C sound bar, but it's less than the Q990C.

I have had this soundbar and the one that comes with the 990C. The sound quality is noticeably better with the 990C soundbar. If you can afford the extra $400, then definitely get the 990C. If money is tight, I would recommend getting the Q900C for $545 (which has the same soundbar and subwoofer as the 990C) and the rear speaker kit (SWA-9500S) from Best Buy [bestbuy.com] for ~$130 (must order in-store for this price). That gets you very close to the 990C at a much lower price.

That does look to be better from a minuscule bit of research on my end! I currently have an onkyo receiver with infinity rc263, (2) r162, and a super cheap 15" sub. Seems like I'm just not hearing this set of speakers like I should be. Would this do more for me

Those are very good speakers, but you would be happier with this 'soundbar + rear speaker' combination for movies. The built-in Atmos speakers do make a difference, plus you get true surround sound with the rear speakers. It sounds perfectly fine with music too. I found the reduction in clutter, and the easier set up (no running speaker wires to the back) to be a welcome improvement in my living room. YMMV. I hope this helps.

I am going to disagree with this. It may be technically slightly better from a numbers point of view. I don't know. But, I didn't hear any difference in normal listening at a local store. At the q990c price point, I would rather go to full A/V option. In my opinion, the upfiring speakers don't do much with sound coming from above. I suspect its effects are even less for the rear upfiring ones. The only practical difference between the two may be the sub woofer. The q990 one seems to be slightly larger than the q910. It may possibly make a difference if you have a very large room.

Not seeing 483.99 with EDU (shows 544.49 for me), are others seeing the 483.99 price ?
