Currently have a '19 CX-5 with 20k mi. It's been at the dealership for the last 3 weeks because the tranny died. At least it's under warranty and they give me a rental Mazda.

It's nice to see a decent vehicle retailing for under $30K plus cash incentives. The market has finally gotten to a point where it's completely walking away from $80,000 F150s, and Big 3 dealers are in a serious panic because they have way more money tied up in vehicles than what the market will pay for them. Every bubble eventually bursts, and I see a wave of dealership bankruptcies coming. Hard to pity them after their $10,000 "market adjustments".

I'll get downvoted for this, but check insurance rates before you pull the trigger on this - they may have immobilizers now, but Kia Boyz don't know the difference. Also, you'll want to check your oil every time you stop for gas, and keep the receipts for every single oil change if you want that 10 year warranty to cover the eventual engine replacement.

If you are not looking for an EV or Hybrid the Subaru Forester is a great alternative to the Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Mazda and Honda. We bought a Subaru Forester in 2017 and it has been great. Drives and handles great. Has needed no maintenance above the usual oil changes and air filters. I have been a backyard mechanic for 40 plus years and the Subaru is an easy car to work on. The only three complaints i have is that it does not have a temperature gauge, it is a little noisy(partially because of all the glass) and they don't sell a front wheel drive vehicle. Vision in the Subaru is the best of class. The Subaru lately has not had any great interest deals and they don't discount them much. But my wife and i are happy customers. I drove 5 other companies SUV's before i bought it and I would buy it again. I wish they had a hybrid, because i am thinking about purchasing a hybrid for my next car.

lol you're clueless. I have a model 3 and I have never owned a car that had depreciated in value so fast thanks to the wonderful markdowns and trying to maximize volumes. Now every early adopter suffers
It's a mass produced luxury car, what did you expect? And early adopters always get burned in resale. You want to be among the first with a cool new toy? Be ready to pay for it. In a time where most manufacturers are increasing price, I'm glad Tesla is cutting prices. Keeps the downward pressure on.

Tesla is not a perfect car company. But there are quite a few things they did well. Direct to consumer sales are awesome. I tried buying a Bolt within the last year when I found out how cheap it was with incentives. Most dealers didn't have one and didn't know when they would get one. They all had separate waiting lists, completely unorganized. Some dealers, each sales rep had their own list - what a mess. Among the dealers that did have one, there was always a markup. I know so many people that bought a Tesla just because of accessibility and ease of sale. I hope manufacturers realize how much dealers impede the sale process. Dealers deserve the axe when it comes to sales.

Maybe they want to insure their car from climate change and the possibility of snow in AZ. 🧐
It does snow in Arizona. You know that right?

I have been considering getting a new car for a while, and the Mazda deal the other day is tempting because our current car is a CX5...

But then I remember the Fed already signaled 3 rate cuts for 2024, so I guess I'll hold out longer for a sedan to be offered at 0% once again (my partner is the one who commutes and he hates SUVs).

Unfortunately a lot of the Hyundai dealers here in Vegas do "market adjustment" $3-5K on every vehicle.
They take those off. I had 2 dealers take it off after about 30 minutes of taking

I went to the Hyundai dealership yesterday. I was in between the 2024 Tucson and 2024 Santa fe. They both have the 0% apr. I ended up choosing the Santa Fe SEL AWD for $30,400. With the AZ fees, taxes, extended warranty and gap insurance, it totalled $37680 over the next 60 months, $0 downpayment, with the 0% apr, my monthly payment will be $628, I don't have to make my first payment until March 15th (90 days). I am very happy with my purchase. Not bad for a midsize SUV
$7200 in fees and taxes? Why do you need gap insurance?

EV prices are falling because demand is going down.....
100% correct. I've read several articles where dealers are refusing them because they sit there unsold. Gas hybrids are the future, not full electric.

They financed the tax, extended warranty and everything else so currently they owe much more than the car is worth. In this situation I'd actually recommend gap insurance. This will offset much quicker as there's no interest paid but depending how quick the car depreciates they could be upside down the entire loan.

So you paid for a plane ticket and the gas to drive home instead of paying the markup? How much did you end up saving?
Your kidding right? You can fly RT for 250.. gas was probably another 300. Looks like he saves about 9k after snacks at the gas station .. lol

But I heard 2024 Santa Fe is not in the lots until early 2024?
So how did you buy 2024 2024 Santa Fe?

Do you mind giving the breakdown of the price like how much is the extended warranty and gap insurance?

Don't forget Mazda has one of the fastest drop in value - sure they handle great but won't last over 100k miles. Just like the overly priced vw's.
Mazda won't last over 100k? No way. They are super reliable

Tesla is changing the game! Direct to consumer model is finally giving a run for all these dealerships. It's still cheaper to buy a model Y AWD long range than a Tucson limited FWD with tax incentives.
I agree for front end(buying process), TESLA's model is working. For anything needs repair, Tesla is a nightmare expensive, very bad. Please check reviews.

Yes, people needs to read Kia-Hyundai Engine failure sub in Facebook. Even if they want to buy, at least they would know how to prep for engine failure, Got rid of two Hyundai's this year and never touching one again.
