I have this and it's a cheap version of the original.
It requires batteries, I think 3 or 4 AAs.
The light is on a timer with no option to always stay on.
The LEDs are nice but have terrible placement, they should've spent the extra 4 cents to add one more because there are noticable light and dim areas.
The stand on this is a joke.
I believe it's much smaller than the OG.
It's cold - the OG had a filament bulb and was metal so it'd get nice and warm, this version is cold plastic.

It's not terrible for $6 though. I imagine if the OG one was still being made it'd likely be $50.

I appreciate the write-up. The reviews agree with you. It also says there is no storage compartment for all the pieces.

I also have it. My kids didn't care for it. I think it has more nostalgia than actual value today

There's not. They eventually get lost.

I looked into this a couple weeks ago. Sounds like it's a real piece of junk. They also make a more expensive "hd" version which sounded a lot better.

Heard the original was better because the few amount of LEDs used just don't get as bright as the original design.

I remember building a fort out of dinner table chairs and a blanket, then playing lite bright in the darkened space. I never had a lot of the black backing paper, so I had to be super reserved about peg placement 😂
