From the photos, do not have the red or blue stripe to mark SAE or metric, and made in India. But also, 81% five star reviews, 71% four star reviews, and no 1-star reviews.

What's the benefit of using these 12 point vs 6 point wrenches?

You can fit them on more types of nuts/bolts, and you can fit them in tighter spaces.

The downside is, that they don't hold as well. The upside is, they allow you to get a grip in tight spaces.

Can't speak to this set in particular, but Kobalt wrenches tend to be short (less leverage) and so thin in the body the edges can dig into your hands when dealing with a stuck fastener.

This is probably fine for a first set for occasional light use. Maybe a beater set to leave in the car or truck. But if you want quality wrenches and sets that don't skip sizes this might not be the set you want.

You have 2x the chances to fit the fastener to the wrench. That should mean more work performed in the same amount of restricted space.

6 sided is a nice feature in ratcheting wrenches. The ~72 teeth give you a 5 degree arc so they're very efficient in tight spaces and you get some more holding power (though you really shouldn't break a fastener with the ratchet laugh out loud ). I don't really think they're an advantage in a standard box end unless you're working in a wide open space free of obstructions.

I have made it the last 25 years working on my cars and homes and never once have I needed a short wrench like this. Tempted because of the price but can't think of a single time or place to use these.

I was pleasantly surprised, these are not like that. When I received mine the first thing I noticed was how thick they are and that they are not short (average in length if not longer). The coverage is pretty good too. The 5/8" can substitute for the 16mm and the 3/4" for the 19mm. The only thing I would add is an 11/16" and maybe a 21mm if you need them. For $15 this is a pretty good deal.

Curious to know if there is a significant difference with those with the stripe vs no-stripe.

The red and blue on mechanics tools is just a quick identifier some tool manufacturers use to differentiate between SAE and Metric.
