Yes, T mobile reps are notorious for lying to customers. It took me 6 months to get a trade in promo corrected.
I don't need a new line right now. But free is tempting. I reached to T mobile team in X to be sure.
Same thing happened to me. For a promo I traded in 2 3G phones for 2 new iPhone SE 2 phones. They never applied the promo correctly and every month they overcharged me, I called and got credited back and they swore it would be fixed by the next billing cycle. After about 6 months they eventually lied and told me I had to go into a store to get it fixed. I literally went into a store with the T Force rep on the phone and nobody could fix it. I went outside to my car and yelled at the rep so loud they hung up on me. I called back and eventually got someone on the phone who released me from my 24 month contract and let me keep the phones. I immediately unlocked both phones!
Yeah I'd be careful with this. Last time CSR told me I was eligible and then they started charging me. Multiple conversations with Tmobile CSRs since. Every time promised it will be fixed and never was. At least every time they gave me credit to cover the cost but next month same situation. In the end they basically admitted I was lied to but said tough luck. Taking all my lines and leaving T-Mobile because of that.
Lmk if you find a phone service provider that doesn't rely on underpaid employees who just wing it every time.
Almost every attempt I've made to communicate with a literal communications company has ended in catastrophic failure.
It's absolutely 🤯 that in 2023 we still must rely on clueless employees to "check" if we are eligible for any given promo, and on affirmative response, there is still a 50/50 chance that attempting to redeem the promo will result in a whole new contract and monthly bill because the employee "accidentally" clicked the purple button that reads "promo: 2 years of suffering" instead of the green button that reads "promo: free line."
Buyer beware. T-mobile deals aren't slick. I was with them for decades and just dumped them because they raised my rates by 50% with their "autopay" scam.
Put a debit card on file and pay with a CC a day before.

I'd just screenshot them saying you're eligible and add the line.

that never ends well. they don't have to honor what an employee says. there are a lot of dumb employees who have no clue what they are talking about and spit out incorrect information.
just do a screenshot and if a no go, just tell them you have proof and worst case, cancel the line and they will credit you whatever months you have paid
"You're most welcome! As per checking here, your account is not included in the promotion who can take advantage of our free line.
We truly understand where you are coming form and that you wanted to get a free line. we can have that look in to it but please do know that T-Mobile is always creating new promotions every now and then most especially this time of the year that holidays season is just around the corner. As T-Mobile wanted to make our customer's happy there might be a promotion that can be released for free lines in the near future."
MM family plan with 10 lines and a couple of free lines.
I called the Tmobile store to check if my account (one plan) qualifies, and I went to a different store to just double check. Also, the store rep told me that it's a deal for today only (can't confirm).
I ended up doing it through Costco to waive the activation fee; however, in the Tmobile store, I was told that Costco wouldn't be able to do it for this promo.
Also, the manager at Costco said that I should be getting $75 GC, but I'm not sure how accurate that info is.
Reached to tforce on x. Mentioned both the internal document # and the promotion name as well as my segments need to be checked to see if I'm eligible. We'll see what they say. I currently have 8 lines for $100 a month.
