If I do qualify for a free line, does anybody know if I can port a number from another carrier into this free line and still have it be free?
Porting a line from another carrier will not affect the free line. You can port it right away, 1 month later, or a year later and it still wouldn't matter.

I was able to get mine ! I called 611 the rep told me I'm not eligible. So I jumped on the T-Mobile app and chatted with them . They said the promos not on my account and that they would add the promo and it would take 24 hours but the rep said they asked their supervisor and they approved them to process it right away. After a while they were able to add the free line and didn't charge me a $35 activation . They are also sending me a physical sim after they activated a esim. Took some time but worth the wait . Just be super nice to the reps .

that never ends well. they don't have to honor what an employee says. there are a lot of dumb employees who have no clue what they are talking about and spit out incorrect information.
Clueless employee should not be a concern for a customer. It should be concern for T mobile or any other organization who hire dumb employees. They should provide training for the employees and keep away clueless ones from customer service at least. So yes, they have responsibility for their employees' statements.

For clarification, how do we know this is for post paid accounts? I didn't see that when following the link, but to be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Yes, definitely can. If the promo falls off then T-force can add it back.

Keep in mind that porting OUT the phone number of a free line is much more complicated as it typically results in you losing the free line.

Depends on if you have a Tax Inclusive or Tax Exclusive plan. With a tax inclusive plan its free.

With an Insider* discount on a tax inclusive plan it can actually drop your bill by 20% of the cost of the free line. So if a line is $40 to add, then it can discount your bill by $8 by adding it. T-Mobile's billing system does some interesting things.

I called in and they said I am not qualified. Select Choice grandfathered plan. Been with them for over 20 years and located in San Jose Ca.

Free phone on the same free line? I doubt the promos will apply because the free line is supposed to be BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

I'm by no means savvy on the phone plan front but I've had T-Mobile 2 lines One plan for several years. Any way this enables me to add my Apple Watch to a line for free?

And I'm skeptical that it'll stick, they tend to say things in order to get the sale.

Most plans available now and in the last 4-5 years are tax inclusive except essentials.

Magenta and Go5g variation's are all tax included.
