It's not true. I got that free line and did a device promo for a Pixel 7 pro in December 2022 and I'm still getting the device credits. I bought a Samsung 10e on swappa for that line to do the trade in (Samsung phone was worth $800 in credits)
How much was the Pixel 7 Pro after credits?
How much credits per month?

Was told my account qualifies but the promo availability is rolling out state by state and I'll get an sms about it in a day or two...figure I'll bother them again soon if I don't get one.

Each time this free line promo comes up (this is the 3rd time for me since I joined T-Moble) my experience has been different.

December 2022 was the first free line I got (not counting the free line I got automatically when I signed up with 2 paid Magenta lines). I used the chat in the T-Mobile app and the person was super helpful and told me I qualified. Everything went exactly as they said, I paid the $35 fee, ordered a SIM card, and within 12 hours I got a text saying a promo code was added and the new line, with promo code, showed up when I logged in to check my online account. I hadn't even received the SIM card in the mail yet at this point, but after my account showed the free line, I went into a T-Mobile store and got an eSIM and all has been good with that line.

The second time, June 2023, again through chat with the app I was told I qualified, the person waived the $35 activation fee, ordered me a SIM card, added the line, and it showed up on my account soon after but without the promo code. I didn't get a text about the promo code like the first time. I waited a day or two, still no promo code so I chatted again, and the person said it was a mistake and I didn't qualify for the free line. This all happened before I even received the SIM card in the mail.... I cancelled it immediately, but I had to pay the pro rated monthly fee of like $3 for the day or two I had the line... I guess no big loss.

Today, again I chatted via the app, and the person immediately said I qualified and asked me if I wanted a new SIM card. So he placed an order for a SIM card for me and then charged me the $35 activation fee. I asked him if there was any notification or sign that I can look out for to make sure I really got a free line. He said once you receive the SIM card and put it in your BYOD and start using it, the line will show up on your account... which seemed kind of weird to me because the past two times, the line showed up on my account before I even received the SIM card. We'll see what happens this time, fingers crossed.

got it on one military plan. chat said not eligible, but phone rep told me i was good to go. credited back the activation fee. they said itd take 1-2 billing cycles for the line to show up as crediting back, eg paying for at least the 1st cycle. anyone else get same info?
be careful because military plans aren't ever eligible for another of these.

You CAN NOT have promos on BYOD lines. No matter how much you kick n scream. It's impossible to do. You're a lying dipshyt
Why the name calling? What do they have to gain by lying? I have 3 of these and I know one of them I did a trade in for a new device and received the credits. Still waiting for the promo to be applied to my 4th one.

Am on Megenta Max plan. I qualified for the free line. Didn't have a spare phone, but have an iPhone 14 so I ended up activating a 2nd phone number on my phone. They credited back the $35 activation fee to my account.

Asked tforce if I qualified, took 4 hours for them to respond to me. Unfortunately they said I didn't qualify. I tried the Tmobile app just now, took then an hour to investigate and they also said I don't qualify. Will try calling tomorrow to see if I can score a free line. I'm on an old SC plan

Do you know if these lines can be used for non-phone devices (Apple Watch, iPad, etc)?

ONE plan with 9 lines, 3 free. TIULFM9 plan code. I got promo phones on all 3 free lines (iPhone 12 pro, pixel 4a5g, and iPhone se2...all free)

Used TMO app chat, the rep said I was eligible. It has a few red flags (I don't see the "add a line promo" listed on my account after adding as I did with much older free lines)

I was about to be charged the $35 but I asked for a courtesy credit, and the rep created my account $35...I did pay $3.02 in taxes as well, which wasn't credited...oh well .

Sim card will be mailed to me in 3-5 days.

I asked them to add grandfathered one plus promo and kickback, and he said he sent a request and it would be automatically added once I activate the SIM card.

Got screenshots of it all...I'm fine with losing the free line if it ends up being more problematic than it is worth.

Chat rep said I am eligible. Wanted to add the line but I am hesitant. I may chat later to get a second "opinion" from a another rep (55+ magenta plan here, only 2 paids lines) .
No free lines are allowed on the 55+. Do NOT listen to their crap. I added and got billed. Been burnt badly! Later manager told me... they can't do anything unless I paid for those lines and TOOK THE FREE LINE BACK. Sooo passed at TMO!!!

I got the deal

Simple choice with 5 lines. I opened the app and chatted with a rep. He assured me I won't get kicked out of the my choice plan and I won't have to pay taxes or fees, just the $35 activation. I was not able to pick my 2nd phone number but got to pick my area code. Took about 30 mins bc his computer froze. Gave him the imei2 number and it was activated. Now I can toggle between primary and secondary number.

Assured me 3x it's free each month as long as the line stays active.

I got the deal as well, simple choice unlimited with 4 preexisting lines. This will be my 5th. Paid $35 but will be given $35 in credits in my next bill. Got to pick area code for the new number

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think with the SC plan you still need to pay fees+ taxes which is about ~$5 for the free line
