It's an investment, so where could you cash this when you need some cash?
Clearly the answer is Craig's List and accepting the offer to get a check, or be paid in dollar bills after agreeing to meet in a park or alley.

I bought a bunch of coins back when 1 ounce was $300 Smilie good investment? Bwahaha
You would have made more money in the SPY than letting it sit in gold that long.

How do you sell these if you ever need to redeem for money?

Last time gold was $300/oz was April 2002. If you invested $300 in a SP500 Vanguard fund in that month, you'd have about $1,800 today assuming dividends reinvested. So a better return with gold but with much less diversification, so only you can say whether the additional $200 was worth the risk. Gains only matter when you sell. Last year, gold had fallen to the $1,600s before rebounding.

Sold out now.

These larger bars will definitely be more difficult to liquidate, just FYI. One shop I normally sell to didn't want these, but the other offered 98% of spot (which would still be profitable after CC rewards here, as long as spot stays similar).

~$2021 per Troy OZ at this rate.
My math shows $1842 an ounce. Correct me if I'm wrong, all hail gold experts.

edit: I was looking at 14K prices not 24K.

Your math assumes oz and not Troy oz
