This card is used for media boxes where you want performance in encoding and decoding. You also want it to be power efficient on sleep and running. That is where they shine in the those PLEX media servers. They just run the power supplied by the express slot. There are probably plenty of used GPU cards that can beat this in performance and cost less. But I'm looking for something that can perform and run 20 to 50 watts since the PC will be on 24/7. So I'm looking at operational costs too

your card offers 15% more performance at double the TDP (150W vs 75W for the intel card), your card launched at the $169 price point, this card launched at the $149 price point. this card also blows your card away when it comes to encoding. I have a RX 580 8GB and I don't even bother with it for encoding, my onboard intel graphics blow it away.

Low profile refers to the bracket height, not the cooler thickness.

The thinnest, most powerful low profile GPU option that I'm aware of is the Yeston GTX 1650 on Amazon, it is low profile and also single slot design.

I'd rather just build a PC with an n6005 CPU.

4k transcode on the fly at 10w TDP...

Will this cause issues if I have another GPU in another slot? Thinking of using for encoding.

Not having AV1 encode is pathetic, not having decode is tragic.

Looks good for encoding AV1. Looks awesome for a SFF or a secondary card for streaming video.

Really strange question .. my daughter's friend is looking for a budget video card to help her play minecraft and she's been relying on the graphics included in the amd ryzen 3200G processor and her corsair vengeance LPX 16 GB of ram so not surprisingly minecraft tends to run slow... anyone know if you'd be able to run minecraft with say mods that improve it's graphics well with this card? Or if not just "vanilla' no mods minecraft?

I had my eye on a low profile Radeon RX 6400 for my HTPC but this is even better! Thanks, OP! Time to read up some reviews.

Also, this didn't come up when selecting low profile cards on Newegg.

Maybe you use this GPU not for gaming but to drive a 4k monitor?

Why waste the extra power on this for plex when you could just get a cheap i3 or i5 12 or 13 gen and have quicksync when you need it and a cpu idling at 15 watts. This card alone will add 20 watts to your system load by itself. That's going to add up on a 24/7 server.

DONT BUY ASROCK, they are garbage. got burned again on one of their gfx cards, ran hot and LOUD but also failed after only 10 hours of gaming, because it was a refurb they wont RMA it.

before that had a top of the line mobo from them where the memory slot failed after a few months, so i basically had 8gb memory limit.

some people have good luck with asrock not me though.

Should run OK.

Edit: There's a few different motherboards out there. You should check to see if the PCIe 16x slot (long one) is aligned with the top or bottom slot.
