Is this sensor better than the Fenix 7S or Fenix 7 and Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965?
Same sensor. 7 Pro, Epix 2 Pro, Venus 3 have the newer sensor with ECG and better accuracy.

For 300 I would have definitely dealt with a smaller white epix pro, but cest la vie.
The $300 deal was for the sapphire version which is black. The white non sapphire was $350 from Walmart.

I would have bought this eventually if I haven't scored a $300 Epix 2 Pro Sapphire 42mm deal from Walmart last week. Good deal.
There is no way that was a legitimate deal. Had to have been a price mistake, but good for you for taking advantage of it. I would have definitely done the same.

There was a $499 51mm deal last week that was almost as good.

I bought this watch about a month ago and it is exactly what I needed. I can track all of my fitness activities (running, lifting, biking) and it has an awesome golf app that has all the golf courses loaded. Plus I can dress it up with a suit and tie for the office and I get compliments on it. Battery life is great with the power saving modes and it charges very quick compared to my old Apple Watch. Definitely pick one up before they go up in price. I'm thinking about getting a second one for my son.

How does this compare to Venu3 for the same price point?

Epix Pro if the size/color combo works for you. Same price, newer sensor with ECG, dual band GPS and double the memory.

I have a Fenix 6X Sapphire that's now over 2 years old and the altimeter has been busted for a while (out of warranty). Is this worth buying or just stick with the 6x?

The Venu 3 has a built-in speaker and microphone that enables users to make and receive calls directly from their wrist. Of all the Garmin watches, only the Venu 2 Plus and 3 have these features. If your a fitness nut, then the Epix is a better watch. If that doesn't matter to you, then I'd go with the Venu 3.

I know what you meant, but I had a little laugh at you putting a tiny suit and tie on the watch and heading into the office.

Yes, the Epix 2 Pro has the ECG App on the watch. All the current pro line versions can download (for free) the app. I believe the Epix 2 pro comes with it pre installed.
Sadly after looking into the details, it's not passive rhythm detection. So not all that useful to me. Maybe in a future model.
