The 5000K and 6500K refer to the color temperature, aka tint. You may be familiar with these when it comes to the standard light bulbs you use in your residence.

5000K is often known as "Daylight White" because it's similar to the light outdoors at noon on a bright, sunny day. In other words, this is a clear white light.

6500K is often known as "Cool White;" it is more intense and has a slightly bluish tone.

In my opinion, if you're buying a flashlight to show off, the 6500K will probably look cooler. For regular usage, the 5000K is much more practical because it's easier on the eyes for most people.

Click here for a visual comparison of 5000K and 6500K for this particular flashlight (photo is from the official product page). [staticdj.com]

I hope this helps,

The Sofirn Q8 Plus is 16,000 Lumens vs the Sofirn Q8 Pro 11,000 Lumens, a difference of 5,000 lumens.

I have the plus version and like it a lot. It probably has the highest lumen output of all my flashlights. My daughter calls it "the power of the sun" when it's on.

Got an SC28 on sale for $25, thrilled with it's brightness, competed with a friends Olight Seeker pro. Albeit the seeker def was nicer with the dial adjustments, vs the toggle switch that was difficult to navigate through settings

If the Q8 can only maintain max brightness for 30 seconds then drops to 3500 why not get something like the SP36, SC33, etc? Trying to understand the logic for getting a high lumen flashlight if it can't maintain the output?
See my post. The thermal protection has to be calibrated, which will dictate how long it can run before throttling.

If you don't calibrate it, you're relying on the factory defaults which are very conservative.

As for why someone would want the Q8 over an SP36, the extra 18650 cell provides massive reserve power when not used at full brightness and the flashlight doubles as a USB-C power bank. I've charged a laptop from mine.

Yes, rated output should only be after 30 seconds at least....

I bought the plus because of comments on here. lemme give you to the tldr.
* it's heavy as SH*T
* it's weirdly stubby as SH*T
* it's bright. like, it annoys the hell out of my gf and she yells at me if i point it at her but i felt like it should have been brighter based on reviews. dont expect to be wow'd but you will be impressed.
* it gets hot, quick, and that stubby nature means your hands have nowhere to go once it heats up. and this can be in 1-2 minutes unless you are using the screwin mount

overall? $75? ehhh... i donno i dont have anything to compare to. I'd say pass and get a much cheaper lower "lumen" one from the same company thats easier to handle. the extra lumens just dont add up to enough "TAKE THAT!!!" factor to make it worth it. Q8 plus or regular. whatever.

also, lemme address practicality on the Plus version:

it's totally impractical.

ok look, you are not going to carry this ****ing thing around in your pocket. any pocket. not only is it too large, it's ultra heavy so your sweatpants for example in the middle of the night are gonna sag immediately. it's that heavy. that PLUS your gun? yr gonna walk out pantsless.

you cant just stuff this into your coat pocket and go out for a walk. it's THAT HEAVY. it constantly reminds you it is there/

you want to put it in your backpacl then? you better be ready to be reminded you put this tuny ulttra heavy object in your backpack and its jamming against your back with every step.

are you getting it yet? its not a comfy object to carry around. in any way. imagine carrying a baseball made of solid iron.

The highest brightness setting is actually hidden behind the advanced mode on most Anduril flashlights.

If you're using it in basic mode (it literally used to be called muggle mode), you only have access to roughly 85% of the range.

Be sure to calibrate the thermal throttle too.

Like others have pointed out, take a look at the Runtime Graph here (follow the white line):
https://www.sofirnlight.com/products/sofirn-q8pro-powerful-11000-lumen-anduril-2?spm=..flashsaleColl... [sofirnlight.com]

In two minutes it dims from its MAX output to 2277 lumens. And that drop starts literally the second you turn it on.

I wish more flashlights had active cooling (fans) to maintain at least half their lumens for at least 5 minutes.

I'll disagree with that point. They have horrible customer service. Good luck if something goes wrong. Service is based in China and they use the language barrier to give you the runaround. I've had issues with every light I got them over the course of 2 years. From charging ports burning out, bulb stopped working and other hardware issues. I've found that the people who "love them" never use them other than to show off to friends/family. I use mine 3-4 times a week and this brand just isn't up to snuff. Look into reputable brands if you actually plan on using them. I have email chains from 4 different occasions … some spanning 3 months.
I have had nothing but great experiences with durability of products and customer service over many years and many hours of use.

I had two minor issues out of many lights purchased and when I emailed them it was handled very quickly.. Sorry to hear your issues.

Bought one of these or very similar on a FP deal worked for a few weeks before it got weaker and weaker with each full charge. Completely dead now with a total of maybe 1-2 hours of use time
Did you buy Sofirn batteries or use a different brand and did you use an outboard charger by chance? Sounds like battery issue not so much the light. Just throwing out things to consider

You have quite the ability to extrapolate vague graphs.

This clearly doesn't demonstrate a flashlight that has been fully calibrated.

Does this imply that upgrading to the Plus is pretty pointless unless you're just trying to impress people with the lumens? Having a higher output for just a minute or so doesn't seem all that useful in the real world.
