No one has time to open the app, try to filter the playback files to see what happened each time something is detected. These have a lot of false positives, so rich notifications is a must. Camera hardware quality is excellent though.

Never pay for things that should be part of the system, paying this 6.99/month is what has brought this cult of membership, where the consumer pays to be able to buy, when it's the seller that needs you more.... even wally mart now charges you to go pick up your dang purchase if its under $35... what a way to stick it to the consumer.....

Thanks, my LaView NVR died a while back and I've been thinking about going the blue iris route, but for this price I'm happy to just plug it in and be up and running without too much fuss.

Edit: I've also been eyeing ReoLink PTZ cameras for one spot, this DVR would be able to support it I'm guessing?

Enable email notification solved this problem for me. Also you could add ina poe switch in between so you can get rich app notifications and let nvr grab streaming video for recording

Thanks OP. I got four 842-A cameras and 8 channel NVR with 2 TB for around $355 including tax. I wanted 5x optical zoom with motorized lense to adjust focal view on each location.

I was also eyeing Annke and Hivision/Amcrest cams but feel like this is the best deal in months.

What would a POE switch in between the cameras and NVR do? I actually have that currently, but a switch does not provide notifications. The Reolink mobile app does not give rich notifications.

Great bundle, I been using this same model for about two years now. I ended up ordering an extra dome style camera to fit in my window sill to point at the front door for mail deliveries.

Doesn't the NVR include the functionality of a POE switch? At least I think the Reolink NVRs do.

Yes it does. The NVR has POE ports. It can also see cameras that are on POE ports of other switches on the same network, doesn't really make any difference to the NVR.
