I got Pixel6a a year ago in a similar deal from Mint. Even though Mint claimed that phone is locked, I tried inserting a sim from an INTL carrier and it worked. When I called Mint after 12 months then they told me that Google phones are not locked so there is no need to unlock.
I am not sure about 7pro but mine 6a was unlocked from the day I received.

Ported my number to Google Voice many years ago, been using Mint most of those years as a "new customer" by getting a new number each time and setting GV to forward calls to the new number each time (a few quick taps in the GV app does it). This time I'll have to get my own number somewhere else to port in ($3 by setting up a new Google account & porting that out is my most likely path), but everything else is the same.

I look like a new account to Mint each time by using Gmail's "plus sign" feature whereby you insert some random text preceded by a plus sign right before the @ in your email address and that extra stuff looks like a different address to Mint, but Gmail ignores it. For example:

[email protected]

Looks unique to Mint, but still gets processed to the [email protected] address by Google. I often use the company and date for the random text to ensure it's unique, so I'd have:

[email protected]

Last year during the big Mint sale I got this phone and ported our numbers over. I'm a fan of the phone (no fingerprint issues) and Mint's pricing, but beware there are known MMS issues the Pixel 7 Pro on Mint that are not fixed after over a year.

Texting via group texts sometimes doesn't go through (or come through) and sending pictures via text just don't work. After troubleshooting for a year with support and reddit forums, there still isn't a fix. It got better after switching the APN and found one that works OK, but it's never consistent.

Just a warning to anyone considering the switch.

If you couldn't get this deal and really want to own this phone for a good deal, check out eBay. There will be ton of selling this phone in the next few weeks or months on eBay. You will see and I think you could get one for $250 for a brand new Pixel Pro 7 Mint locked. If you want 12 months of Mint for a good price, then check out eBay too. There will be a lot of selling on the 12 months service too.
Yeah 250 just for the phone is not such a deal. How greedy are people on eBay depends?

Yeah but is $250 on eBay really a good deal when this only cost $99? Hopefully they restock tomorrow or before Christmas...

Could I run this in dual-SIM mode. I have Verizon now, so port over a different number (my Google Voice number??) and use this new phone with both Verizon and Mint service?
If the phone is really LOCKED, then the answer is NO.
A LOCKED Phone means it only work with the provider you purchased with.

What recession? The stock market just ran up 20% in like a month. Bitcoin is on the trajectory to new all time highs and has almost tripled in value from the beginning of the year. Gold is near all time highs, interest rates are dropping and U.S. government bonds are flying. There isn't going to be a recession unless every major U.S. city gets nuked or something.

Would also like to know if anyone else has experience with locked Mint devices.
A Locked phone mean it only works with Mint SIM.
A Sim Locked phone is universal doesn't matter it is a Mint, ATT, Verizon devive,

If it is locked it will only work with the provider's sim until you request an unlock from the provider.

That is an incredible price. I just paid 500 for a pixel 8. Not a great phone. Video in low light is terrible. Battery life is not great

Do locked phones like this only support the bands for their specific carrier? Or do they support the same bands as the unlocked models?

Just a reminder, the market is publicly traded. If you are so certain that a recession is happening next year, put your money where your mouth is and short the market Smilie

Ryan Reynolds no longer own Mint Mobile because T-Mobile bought Mint Mobile for $1.3B already. His stake in Mint Mobile is about 25% of the company and the news said that his stake valued about $340m.
