I got Pixel6a a year ago in a similar deal from Mint. Even though Mint claimed that phone is locked, I tried inserting a sim from an INTL carrier and it worked. When I called Mint after 12 months then they told me that Google phones are not locked so there is no need to unlock.
I am not sure about 7pro but mine 6a was unlocked from the day I received.
Ported my number to Google Voice many years ago, been using Mint most of those years as a "new customer" by getting a new number each time and setting GV to forward calls to the new number each time (a few quick taps in the GV app does it). This time I'll have to get my own number somewhere else to port in ($3 by setting up a new Google account & porting that out is my most likely path), but everything else is the same.

I look like a new account to Mint each time by using Gmail's "plus sign" feature whereby you insert some random text preceded by a plus sign right before the @ in your email address and that extra stuff looks like a different address to Mint, but Gmail ignores it. For example:

[email protected]

Looks unique to Mint, but still gets processed to the [email protected] address by Google. I often use the company and date for the random text to ensure it's unique, so I'd have:

[email protected]
Last year during the big Mint sale I got this phone and ported our numbers over. I'm a fan of the phone (no fingerprint issues) and Mint's pricing, but beware there are known MMS issues the Pixel 7 Pro on Mint that are not fixed after over a year.

Texting via group texts sometimes doesn't go through (or come through) and sending pictures via text just don't work. After troubleshooting for a year with support and reddit forums, there still isn't a fix. It got better after switching the APN and found one that works OK, but it's never consistent.

Just a warning to anyone considering the switch.

Pixel 3 unlimited full quality backups ended a year ago. Only the OG pixel 1 should have unlimited full quality backups now. Storage saver backups are unlimited for either the pixel 3 or 7 so it shouldn't matter which one you use.

deal is hotter, they throw in a free side of bacon:

Everything is better with bacon, even premium wireless. So, it makes perfect sense that we've joined forces with Oscar Mayer for a sizzling partnership. As in, buy any Mint Mobile plan between 12/12 and 12/22 and you'll get a coupon for a free 12oz side of bacon. It's a great deal no matter how you slice it, fry it, bake it…you get it.

To get your free bacon, just hit the "Click for Bacon" button and enter your Mint Mobile Crispy Code --- to get a coupon mailed to you. It's a great deal no matter how you slice it, strip it, stack it…you get it.Ha ha

Guys, I got this mobile a few days ago when it came for 299$. It won't unlock after 60 days you can unlock it after 12 months. I'm one hundred percent sure about this. Yes, I got unlocked mobiles last year, but now the situation is different as it got acquired my T mobile. Things are slowly changing.

This should be good for trade in for Pixel 8 right? Pixel 8 is for $550 at Google store, and many people received email with a minimum $100 discount coupon code. So it's around $485 after tax. Trade in value for Pixel 7 pro is $315. So in the end, it would be $170 + $220 = $390 for an unlocked Pixel 8. Good?
Is the 8 that much better than the 7?

What is the difference between buying it with esim vs physical ? I accidentally pick esim because it was out of stock at first . Can I still port in with those ebay number , never try this method before
Once the order is delivered you can call and ask them for Physical SIM and they will deliver it for FREE I think

If this transaction finishes completely without cancellation, this is the 2nd time I get a free cell phone service for 1 year; of course I have to sell this Pixel 7 Pro phone in order to get 1 year of 15GB free service from Mint in the end. The last time I got 1 year of free cell phone service which was from Straight Talk and that was a decade ago. I was lucky at that time that Straight Talk didn't cancel my 1 year refill card. At that time I and a ton of people from Slickdeals bought a 1 year Straight Talk refill card from Amazon; then Straight Talk didn't honor that 1 year refill card for alot of buyers because the seller from Amazon used stolen credit cards to buy those 1 year refill cards; so eventually Amazon refunded us in full ($495) after we request a refund through chat and I was lucky that Straight Talk didn't cancel my 1 year refill card; Straight Talk let me used that refill card for 1 year without interruption hihihi. I was lucky though.

If you couldn't get this deal and really want to own this phone for a good deal, check out eBay. There will be ton of selling this phone in the next few weeks or months on eBay. You will see and I think you could get one for $250 for a brand new Pixel Pro 7 Mint locked. If you want 12 months of Mint for a good price, then check out eBay too. There will be a lot of selling on the 12 months service too.
