I got Pixel6a a year ago in a similar deal from Mint. Even though Mint claimed that phone is locked, I tried inserting a sim from an INTL carrier and it worked. When I called Mint after 12 months then they told me that Google phones are not locked so there is no need to unlock.
I am not sure about 7pro but mine 6a was unlocked from the day I received.
Ported my number to Google Voice many years ago, been using Mint most of those years as a "new customer" by getting a new number each time and setting GV to forward calls to the new number each time (a few quick taps in the GV app does it). This time I'll have to get my own number somewhere else to port in ($3 by setting up a new Google account & porting that out is my most likely path), but everything else is the same.

I look like a new account to Mint each time by using Gmail's "plus sign" feature whereby you insert some random text preceded by a plus sign right before the @ in your email address and that extra stuff looks like a different address to Mint, but Gmail ignores it. For example:

[email protected]

Looks unique to Mint, but still gets processed to the [email protected] address by Google. I often use the company and date for the random text to ensure it's unique, so I'd have:

[email protected]
Last year during the big Mint sale I got this phone and ported our numbers over. I'm a fan of the phone (no fingerprint issues) and Mint's pricing, but beware there are known MMS issues the Pixel 7 Pro on Mint that are not fixed after over a year.

Texting via group texts sometimes doesn't go through (or come through) and sending pictures via text just don't work. After troubleshooting for a year with support and reddit forums, there still isn't a fix. It got better after switching the APN and found one that works OK, but it's never consistent.

Just a warning to anyone considering the switch.

If you couldn't get this deal and really want to own this phone for a good deal, check out eBay. There will be ton of selling this phone in the next few weeks or months on eBay. You will see and I think you could get one for $250 for a brand new Pixel Pro 7 Mint locked. If you want 12 months of Mint for a good price, then check out eBay too. There will be a lot of selling on the 12 months service too.
So still ~$350 for the phone and the plan like BF. Yeah not this deal tho

What happens if I don't port in a number, and I'm willing to wait 12 months for unlock?
I understand 6 months will be without service.

If it's like Metro, you don't need service for all 12 months to be unlocked. But I don't know if it is. Why not just port in a Google Voice number cheaply?

Amazing deal if you don't mind using Mint for a year. I spent a little more the Unlimited as I use a lot of data. Hopefully service is good. Metro was good when I tried it for a month with the S23 FE deal.

Not sure your use case, but I have had the Pixel 4,5,7, and now 8. I always get the Otterbox Defender series paired with a Zagg screen protector. Its a bit bulky, but super durable. If you want to go with slim, then I recommend the Speck cases covered with the mini ridges.

I bet you can find a ton of used ones on Ebay or FB MP as everyone has upgraded to the Pixel 8 now, and are probably trying to offload their Pixel 7 cases.

As a data point, I have listed mine (Pixel 7 non pro unfortunately) on both sites lol

I'm having the same issue. I saw the link but figured I'd wait until today...
Or do we just not know where to enter the code?

Do locked phones like this only support the bands for their specific carrier? Or do they support the same bands as the unlocked models?
These days most/all devices supports all carrier bands, I don't think manufacturer like to put different modem for each carrier. It add cost to the device,
There might make different hardware for region/country but a phone made for North America, should support all the carrier's bands here

How is Mint going to run a deal like this but have it active for only a few hours? SMH at least have enough phones to last one whole day.

Edit: I called Mint and they said they will restock the Pixel 7 Pro after New Year LMAO
