I got Pixel6a a year ago in a similar deal from Mint. Even though Mint claimed that phone is locked, I tried inserting a sim from an INTL carrier and it worked. When I called Mint after 12 months then they told me that Google phones are not locked so there is no need to unlock.
I am not sure about 7pro but mine 6a was unlocked from the day I received.
Ported my number to Google Voice many years ago, been using Mint most of those years as a "new customer" by getting a new number each time and setting GV to forward calls to the new number each time (a few quick taps in the GV app does it). This time I'll have to get my own number somewhere else to port in ($3 by setting up a new Google account & porting that out is my most likely path), but everything else is the same.

I look like a new account to Mint each time by using Gmail's "plus sign" feature whereby you insert some random text preceded by a plus sign right before the @ in your email address and that extra stuff looks like a different address to Mint, but Gmail ignores it. For example:

[email protected]

Looks unique to Mint, but still gets processed to the [email protected] address by Google. I often use the company and date for the random text to ensure it's unique, so I'd have:

[email protected]
Last year during the big Mint sale I got this phone and ported our numbers over. I'm a fan of the phone (no fingerprint issues) and Mint's pricing, but beware there are known MMS issues the Pixel 7 Pro on Mint that are not fixed after over a year.

Texting via group texts sometimes doesn't go through (or come through) and sending pictures via text just don't work. After troubleshooting for a year with support and reddit forums, there still isn't a fix. It got better after switching the APN and found one that works OK, but it's never consistent.

Just a warning to anyone considering the switch.

Did the terms of the deal change between when it was posted and now?
It seems like there is no port-in requirement.
I ordered yesterday and it says it is shipping a 12 month sim (I expected a 6+6 with port in). I'm confused by this as well.

It says a port-in is required in three different places on the product page. Whether they actually enforce that or not is another question, but I don't think anything has changed.

I bought this back during the $300(for the phone then +plan) sale.

You MUST port-in for the 12 months, you can not circumvent it.

So the receipt you received doesn't say anything about port-in? Not in the emailed receipt nor the web receipt?

How did you port it in? Like after you received the phone and sim and do activation, there are instructions for going the port-in route from there?

Not particularly helpful. What I found from reddit (Unsure about accuracy)

* unlimited plan is really only a 40gb plan that reduced to under 480kbps after.
* unlimited plan has a 5gb bucket for tethering
* non-unlimited plans like the 20gb, cut off after plan, but entire bucket can be used for tethering.
* Upgrading at 50% is not available, so buy what you need now.

Yes, you login to their activation site and port your number over. Super easy.
You can apply the plan to any compatable phone, not just the pixel 7. Note that the 7pro is locked and will not unlock unless you activate it. But you could sell the phone and just use the plan or vice versa.

Anyone actually able to check out?

I get this:

It was "back in stock" for 10 minutes before being sold out again. I think it might've been a computer glitch in their system or something and they didn't actually have any in stock. Deal is dead.

Once you port over the number, do you have to worry about cancelling the plan from the other provider or does it automatically cancel once their number is ported over?
