Earn 1pt on every $1 spent (excluding gift cards, taxes, LQO)
Earn "starting at" 100pt for ink cartridges (still limited per month to something)
Associates actually get earned rewards now at the same rate plus we get 400pts for ink recycling
Points don't expire as long as you shop at staples within 18 months to stay active
You can earn bonus double points on select categories (tech items, ink and toner, P&M, chairs, etc) and you can pick up to 3 of them
App is going to have other limited time bonus offers that can be activated
Points can be redeemed at register at any whole dollar amount as long as the customer asks. (You have to first enable it on the main screen but go to the add tenders screen to see the available amount and add it)
Points are refunded when returning an item paid partially or in full with points
Points are worth a half penny each so 200pts = $1

400 points @ half penny is $2, which is the going rate now for ink carts.
how are we getting 50 cents for a cart?
I asked them what happens to our Plus memberships. we still have unused benefits. will we be able to use them or get a refund of our membership fees.

We need an insider to spill the beans about the "There are some exciting changes coming to the Staples Plus Program in February 2024 and we can't wait to share them with you."
but we want to charge you first so you're stuck.
Then price matching became such a time consuming waiting on hold PITA after the Kiosks were removed (we mostly buy things not carried in store) that it made more sense to buy Plus and buy our tech elsewhere. We didn't buy anything from Staples this year other than a a few APC battery backups that were on sale for an actually competitive price.
I think they still made a profit off of us, as we paid for Plus to mostly use Rewards to buy high markup cleaning / breakroom stuff. Without ink rewards, the cleaning and breakroom stuff will be cheaper at Amazon / Costco and that's not counting the cost of Plus or the time wasted doing ink turn ins.
Without Ink Rewards, I just don't see a reason to shop at Staples at all. I can take the savings from not buying Plus and cover 3 years the of ad-free Prime surcharge.
If a rewards program isn't providing enough of an incentive for people to choose you over a competitor, what's the point?

Let's see what they do with PLUS members, who have already PAID for their memberships for the year...
The changes to the Staples® Plus membership program will go into effect February 2024. You will continue to receive your existing benefits until that time.
Only good news is possible lucky timing for me. I was almost out of ink carts. I'm holding off on finding more now.
That is a big downgrade. If so, I should recycle my ink now.
Anyone got any more updates?
