Your low effort comment, trailing off with …, made me wonder if it's reputable. According to camel^3 the lowest price around that date was $7.56 on Dec 4th and sold by a 3rd party. Good deal, but your purchase was not likely from "Amazon itself".

I'm still terrified by the thought of using this extremely sharp blade without any guard in case my hand slips while weeding. Or maybe I'll just adjust my hold.

In practice I never found my hand dangerously slipping down the handle onto the blade. You should be wearing decent gloves when using this anyway. It's a quality tool.

Downsides? It looks like a big murderous knife, and in America, that means some idiot neighbor may call the police on you, and those idiot cops may riddle you with lead.

I got one of these https://www.amazon.com/Nisaku-NJP...to_dp&th=1 off sunjoe when they were being closed out and it does every job the digging knife does but it does it better and faster, and you're less likely to be shot because it looks like a proper gardening implement. Better ergonomics for me as well.

The horis horis do make a good, fun, odd, and affordable gift for the right type of person.

I love mine and they make great gifts. My mom and neighbor were kind of confused when I gave it to them. Now they treat it like a EDC pocket knife and we all love them
