In my experience, Brita pitchers will last MAYBE 2 years before cracking at the handle and becoming completely useless. Warranty is only good for one year.

I think I owned one of these in 2000 and had a similar experience.

I was considering something along these lines for work pre-pandemic, but at that point in time, the discussions about mold / mildew / algae / whatever growing in the filters turned me off. Anyone have any experiences with (or not with) that? It seems to me that feeding it a steady diet of chlorinated water and keeping it out of sunlight wouldn't give anything truly pathogenic much to work with, but we do have iron pipes.

No experiences with that specifically. I'll say I spent a few weeks digging into water pitchers and decided on the epic water brand. Its still plastic and I'm a bit concerned It'll have the same handle defect but at least its a lifetime warranty. They filter out more than brita too.

Have been using a Brita 6 cup for last 3 years. No issues with handle. Used with long last filters as those seem to filter the most.

A 6 cup pitcher is on the small side. Costco sells a 10 cup pitcher on sale this period.

I bought this in store for $33.99-$12 = $21.99 for 10cup with 2 filters
I'd roughly estimate each filter at $3-4.

I had a Costco one that did that after a year. I figured it was just cause the bottom part was unattached to something

This one seems more sturdy than that, is the handle reinforced or something?

Sorry about those that didn't last. Don't remember where I got our 10 cup, even paid $4 more for green color, tired of same old red, white, blacks. But going onto 3 years with no issues. Using Brita filtered water, we now descale our hot water heater once a year instead of almost once a month. Must work.

The design is horrible I have similar one doesn't even have a lid to cover there's small area open, also this design is extremely hard to add filter then close it back, looking for old design or probably other brand
