Is it worth it? I've been considering learning Cantonese and I heard that Drops is the only app that has the language, but it's not very good.

If you're trying to learn how to read or need help on that part I found remembering the traditional Hanzi book helpful

I got in on the lifetime 2 for $20 with anotger slickdealer. It's mainly a vocabulary builder. It's pretty good for that I guess - I've only tried a couple of languages. OTOH, they have a lot of content not available elsewhere (like European Portuguese).

Yeah they have a ton of languages. For lifetime I think it's a solid tool in the toolkit for pretty cheap. It makes like learning simple vocabulary pretty fun and easy. They also say it out loud and add pictures for easy vocab memorization. I don't view it as the only app for picking up language though. It's more of like a companion app, or a starter app to get you into the habit of learning the language. I also haven't used cantonese either.

I'm trying to learn Mandarin on the side using Duolingo but it's tough reading non-latin characters. I might go for Drops since it's lifetime and includes all languages - currently I'm using Duolingo classroom to learn for free w/o ads and unlimited hearts.

I have drops. It is a nice app. I still get popups notifying me of sales they are having even though I am a lifetime member.
