I bought these last time they were advertised.. they are horrible quality! Still have 4 left, put one on in a hallway, and took it off right away.. it doesn't sit flush with the wall, and it gives very little light. They also feel like extremely poor quality.. like you could snap them with one hand. I might wind up opting for some better quality ones I was looking at on amazon, which cost a lot more. I think the idea is great, if.. 1 better LEDs were used, and 2, better quality plate. They flawlessly connect to whatever it is in there.. something metal. I have a home that was built in the early 90's with no upgrades or reno done to the electrical.. so that should give you an idea, that these were made to work universally.. but buy at your own risk.. personally.. can't recommend.

I bought these...
Installation wasn't great; the contacts on the plate didn't line up on most of my outlets
Overall the design and build quality gave me a fire hazard concern
I swapped them out for a single recepticle design from Home Depot
No motion sensor, but there is On/Off/Auto switch with a dusk-to-dawn sensor

Yup, I'm aware, but if you wanted this on the first outlet in the line (the GFCI one), then it won't work.

Motion activated. The ones from Woot! are not motion activated.

you don't actually need GFCI on all outlet. only one (the first one) GFCI in that strain of circuit is sufficient if you wire it correctly
Depends on the local code as well. Second this stupidity is why one of my jobs the outlet in the garage was controlled by GFCI located on the second floor bathroom (no idea how that passed inspection just on the length of wire alone but whatever).
These plates work by touching screws for wires that are on the side, GFCI have them in different location from regular outlets so that's why it won't work, it also won't work if outlet has been taped around with electrical tape or leviton has new style that has locking levers and holes for wires which also don't have screws exposed on the sides so those won't work either. As additional info leviton has also very nice GFCI that have LED night light built in and is very nice the only thing is it requires changing the outlet completely so breaker box and complete line shut off is a must, keep track of which wires go to "LINE" and which to "LOAD" because it's important for outlet to keep providing protection.

FYI - these are knockoffs of ones created by SnapPower (which cost $18 each). If you want to go up to $20+ per, you can get ones with more advanced features (GCFI compatible, motion, control over the brightness of the LED, etc).

Obviously this deal gives you FIVE for the price of a single SnapPower....so even if half of these bust, you're probably still ahead if you just want these for a random hallway.

I know this deal is expired now, so I'm not sure how many people will see this, but I have to chime in here in case somebody in the future sees this.

I REALLY wish I had seen these comments before buying. This is a classic example of "you get what you pay for." The quality is flimsy. I couldn't really get the contacts to line up on any of my outlets, except for one that I had to bend the contacts a little bit. After all the hassle of installing just one, the lighting itself is so dim. I wanted to use these in the hallways between bedrooms and bathrooms and the lighting on these barely hit the floor and the outlet is only 2 feet off the ground.

I was able to return and get a refund from Woot. Thank God. If you're in the market for these types of outlet covers, pass on these.

I barely ever come back after a thread is closed and give a product review, but I just installed mine and I have to echo you and your quoted post as well.

These are absolute shite. Almost zero light output and don't sit flush on the wall. These are just simply terrible. I bought some Hello Lights previously at $15/each and was hoping that these were maybe half as good; nope way worse.

Do not buy these if they come up for sale again.
