If this included an upgrade to BC5 that would be great, but I don't see that. It looks like they are trying to sell some BC4 licenses ahead of the BC5 release. So it might make more sense for some to wait for the BC5 release than be immediately behind.

I've used meld merge, windiff and a bunch of similar tools over the years, but BC is in a league of its own esp. for easy directory compares IMHO.

I agree that in terms of easy interface and speed, BC is the best. Meld is next best and I've learned to live with it because you can't beat free Smilie

I've had a license for years. I use it infrequently, but you need it it's indespensable. Great software.

If you're serious about merge tools, don't mind spending money, and especially if you're on a Mac, I'd recommend Araxis Merge instead. Beyond Compare runs like ass on Mac and I have yet to find a single thing Araxis Merge doesn't do better or faster. But Araxis Merge *is* expensive.

New release comes out next month. Don't do it.

***nevermind… it looks like they'll honor free upgrades***

New "full-price" licenses bought after Jan 1, 2022 upgrade to v5 for free. Unclear if this would qualify.

"You only get automatic upgrade protection when you pay full price for a license"
But they only seem to be referring to new vs upgraded licenses in the upgrade policy.

Beyond Compare is the GOAT, I've used it several times for large file moves and it has always worked perfectly.

Been using this software for over 15 years. Can't beat it and well worth the price.

If your workplace is large enough, you can get a site license.

This program is amazing for folder compares. That's so helpful when idiots don't know how to update time labels on project folders and you have multiple instances labeled "new" and "final version".

I use BC4 at work and (free and open source) WinMerge at home, and I'm not sure I could identify a compelling reason to pay for BC on Windows. WinMerge does folder comparison quite well.

Does anyone else who has used both want to provide some rationale for paying for BC?
