The M12 Fuel multitool is nice, but if the increased size fits your work, the M18 Fuel is that much better (faster cuts, less vibration, auto mode, and the wrap-around lights). Reviewers sometimes give the nod to DeWalt for this tool though, the blade change system is a bit better.
Absolutely. People love to talk about how easy it is to change the blade on the DeWalt and it is, but IMO that's probably the least important part of a multi-tool.

It wasn't even that long ago when we had to use a separate tool to change them.

The Milwaukee multi-tools are better in literally every other way.

I'd keep the Dewalt over this. These saws eat batteries pretty fast and honestly, I've been underwhelmed with the Milwaukee oscillating saws when using them.

I have Dewalt 20v, Dewalt 60v, Milwaukee m12 and Ridgid 18v. Dewalt and Milwaukee are definitely better than Ridgid on most tools. I love the stubby m12, caulk gun, and surge drivers. But for this specific tool, Milwaukee is last on my list of the 3 brands I own.

Id say yes, I got mine for 99 last February. DeWalt is good, and I also believe the m12 product line is for people at home and not professionals. The only upside of Milwaukee m12 as opposed to DeWalt is they have many more tools and you can get great deals on new tools all the time. You will never need to buy batteries because there is always a deal with a free charger and batteries.

Id go with Milwaukee, but if its the only tool your going to buy stick with DeWalt

My only comment here is that I know several pros who like the m12 line because it's "enough" power to get the job done while being significantly lighter weight to lug around on the job.

It really depends on what kind of "pro" you are. Framing a home? Ok? Get the m18.

But plenty of other professionals don't need any more than an m12 to get their jobs done. Eg an electrician who'd use one of these to cut into drywall to place boxes and then an m12 driver for screws and an m12 drill to go through a few 2x4's.

I had the M18, returned it and got the M12. Love the smaller size and it has plenty of power for the DIYer.

Get the one you already have batteries for, if any. I have both M12 and DeWalt 20V, both systems are great.

You nailed it. They're both excellent tools, M18 is slightly better than M12. But if you only use it sparingly and especially in awkward places, then absolutely the smaller M12 is the way to go. We're in flooring and own both but only use M18 most of the time. Especially when doing repairs and we have to cut boards out. M18 Fuel cuts faster and with those giant batteries lasts longer which is what's important for us. Also, batteries recharge faster, where as m12 batteries only charge at slowest setting.
