You want the version that includes a $10 Amazon GC, mate.

I went back and looked at my last 5 years ordering premier and it was $55 every year. This isn't a deal you are just paying for the gift card.
Each year Amazon matches Costco's after Christmas price. Amazon's total price includes a $10 gift card and Costco's price includes a $10 credit. If you pay to e-file state, both cost effectively the same. If you don't e-file state and have no use for the $10 TurboTax credit, then Amazon is the better deal. (In 2021 Amazon had a price mistake on Premier so it was priced the same as Deluxe for several hours.)

Can anyone confirm/deny if this is still true for 2023 desktop version?
I remember the '21 & '22 download version of Premier asking me about crypto transactions but I didn't have any so I skipped that section. I know it asked in those versions but I can't say about the 2023 version.

I know that is in Premier because I have to do that every year. I'm not sure if they have a walk through with that in Deluxe but I know that the possible headache and frustration of trying to figure it out and see isn't worth the $10-$15 I would save by not getting Premier.
Exactly. And that's why I've been using Premier for the last 15+ years. But it looks like people are saying that stock sales are already included in Deluxe too, so if that covers ELSS stock sale then I don't even need Premier.

How about ESPP & RSU stock sale? Is that included too?
It has never been an issue for me specifically, so I don't know. But I do see that there is a lot of info. on the topic on line. The complexities of my own returns have been fully covered by Deluxe. Employee stock plans are so common that I'd be very surprised if TT Deluxe didn't handle them seamlessly.

Same question. Don't you have to use home & business now if you have sold over $600 worth of stuff online? I find it hard to believe that nobody here has
It's actually $20,000. And I sold $24,000. Do I need home and business?

Does it auto import the investments? or you have to hand into them in?
YES. All that you do is enter your user name and PW for the financial institution(s) and indicate what you want to import from the list of what's available to you for your account at that bank/brokerage. All of the relevant data are imported and the appropriate forms populated automatically. You need to do nothing else. You don't even see the forms, if you don't want to.
I have a number of accounts with a lot of compounding of dividends and it's all handled automatically. No problems over many years with TT Deluxe. I would prefer that IRS simply send me a bill but Congress always has its hands out for bribes, so that's unlikely to happen.

i have never tried deluxe but the premier version offers a lot of guidance, unfortunately some of it is still ambiguous to me, and it does not handle foreign dividends well at all, it makes you do some kind of work around which is very counter intiuitive and frankly i could not even get to work.
Did you find that simply auto-importing didn't give you credit for dividend withholding by foreign gov'ts? Or were you getting into the weeds of withholding affected differently depending on the nature of the investment vehicle and existing tax treaties?

Doesn't Premier fill out schedule C for you? I earned 1099-NEC income last year for the first time and W2 income. I think I can use Premier for it and don't need Home & Business. Anyone know for sure?

How does this compare to H&R's desktop version, like Deluxe + State?

Intuit decided that you can no longer just buy the product and use it, you *must* create an account on Intuit's website (or use one you already have), and log into it before you can install the software on the PC. Just another step towards pushing everyone to their online version.

I finally decided this is the year I cut the Turbotax "cord", no more Intuit ripoff for me.

This was the best deal I could find, so thumbs up given! If the price keeps going up every year at this rate, I'm going to need a second job to pay for paying my taxes!
