I think it's 40 parts of gas to 1 part of oil. So (for ease) if it's 40oz gas then it has 1oz of oil mixed in. Adding 10oz of gas puts it at 50:1

since this is 110 oz total, I think it would mean it's about 97.55oz gas and 2.45oz oil (this gives a 39.8:1 ratio). Keeping the same 2.45oz of oil but having 122.55oz of gas makes it 50:1 so you would add 25oz of ethanol free gas to the existing liquid from the can

If you agree with the youtuber, how do you winterize your 2 stroke engines?

Small engine mechanic A is going to say keep the fuel mixture in the tank and run the engine once a month for 5 to 10 minutes in the brutal cold.

Small engine mechanic B is going to say that is a bad idea because the gasoline ethanol and other detergents will deterotiate the metering diaphragm in the carb. Run the tank dry.

Small engine mechanic A says that it is a bad idea because the metering diaphragm in the carb will actually be destroyed because it will become flaky like a dry leaf come spring.

So what do you do? I buy engieered fuel because it solves all the problems.

You'd be ok running a 40:1 on a 50:1 engine & vice versa

To make this a 50:1 ratio instead of the 40:1, you can just add approx 27 oz of gasoline with the existing oil/gas mix (without draining any), to make the total 137 oz of 'premix'.

Tho that alters the 'ethanol-free' benefits of this 110 oz can if you add 27 oz of ethanol 'pump gas' and naturally put it in a larger can.

As per TruFuel you should NOT mix with gas.

To make 50:1 from 40:1 wouldn't you need to add more oil not gasoline ? No pun intended , this is not meant to be insulting in any way.
Don't bother changing 50:1 from 40:1. You can use them interchangeably.

In this big 110oz 40:1 can, there's 2.69oz of oil.

If it were 50:1, there's 2.16oz… that's half a shot glass in this big 110oz can. That's truly negligible.

Why run this instead of your own ethanol free mix?
Hard to find ethanol and additive free gas. Kind of a pain to measure and mix especially if you only use the chainsaw to cut a few limbs every now and then.

I have an echo leaf blower, cheapo homelight leaf blower, 2 chainsaws and a weed trimmer. I fill with fresh 2 stroke Echo oil and 50:1 mix with ethanol green gas. Top off and add a little fuel stabiler. Going on 20 years, they all start perfectly in the spring.
Plug fouling ain't normal. I run 20-30 tanks through my saws and only a plug every 3 or so years.

Just ordered 4 from my local Lowes, I would mix my own, but you cannot buy ethanol free gas in Massachusetts's, this price is a bargain.

Thanks for posting.

If you are able to, add 4 to the cart, the price dropped to 4.74 each.
I really like the metal cans and reuse them when I mix my own.

Teryl fixes all did a multi year test on about 20 of the "additives" and engineared fuel. He also tested untreated fuel. It was a quite interesting series. As I recall enginered fuel (not pre mixed) did a good job, but the other "aditives" did not do so well in just 6 months to a year.

Fresh NonOxigenated premium for my 2 stroke motors for years has been my plan and works for me. At the end of the season I dump unused fuel in to the Trucks gas tank. I start fresh every spring.

It is a shame. We could run straight gas and the motors would run better last longer if we wanted it. It takes about $7 to make one gallon of ethanol. It takes 100 gallons of fresh water to make that. Using ethanol was suposed to be a way to cut oil imports, but today we are a net exporter. Now we pay more and get less. Gas is down to $3 nowdays and there is no need to dilute it. Corperate farmers have a hold on DC for years.

Making a bad policy is easy. Fixing a bad policy is quite hard. The esiest mess to cleanup is the one you did not make.

Thank you, OP, repped. I found the 32 oz 4-cycle version on sale nearby for $1.72 each (usually $7). Hackettstown NJ, if you want some. All my tools are electric now, except the snow blower, so I don't mind running it exclusively on this stuff. I should be good for a few years now.

PS: I just saw that Jersey City Lowes has OP's product on sale for $5.98, that's a steal!

Ethanol exists so the country can do something with all the GMO corn it grows. Gotta keep them subsidies for that useless crop, so gotta find things it can be used for.
