The better buy is the Z690 ACE for $249 plus a $50 rebate to bring it down to $199. Thunderbolt 4 built-in along with a better audio solution (an ESS dac).

The better buy is the Z690 ACE for $249 plus a $50 rebate to bring it down to $199. Thunderbolt 4 built-in along with a better audio solution (an ESS dac).

Wait... I have configured a new system for me with z790 MB. I love MSI that I used previously. The price for MSI z790 MB has been around $200-250. What is the rationale for buying z690 MB at that price?

Wow, this thing can take 12th, 13th, and 14th gen Intel? Didn't think Intel mobos can do that (I have a 9th gen Intel)

Tempted to buy the Ace for a upgrade build in the future but how's the quality control for msi mobos?

These are boards MEG or ACE can handle two graphic cards with x8 bandwidth, normally you can only have 1x16 and 1x4. However, watch out z690 for ddr5 memory, it has a hard time to go over 2 slots for high speed, if ram speed is not important to you, might as well go with z690 and ddr4 to same some money.

Right, and we're at 14th gen, meaning the last gen that will work with the mobo. Major changes coming for Intel's next product line that will not be compatible with this.
