24" or a 27" monitor. Which is more clear or easy to read?

Hoping for some advice. Need a new monitor for my desktop.
I sit about 2 ft away at my desk. And have a 24"
About 15 years ago I tried going up to a 27" but it did not work well with my eyes.
Did not seem as clear and as easy to read.
So sent it back for a 24"
Have things changed much over the years? Is it worth trying a 27" again?
If I go up to a 1440 display. Would that makeup the difference from a 24" 1080 or would the 24" still be a bit more clear.

I loathe 27" 1080p displays.
I have a 27" 1440p display and like it. You could also go up to 4k (2160p) at either 27" or 32" (assuming your computer can drive a 4k display). A higher resolution like this will make things sharp. However, the text may be smaller than you'd like, which is why windows has text scaling so you can make the text bigger if you want.

If you look at something like a 27" 1080p monitor the PPI is low and text will look fuzzy / blurry. The pixels are just bigger.
If you have a microcenter nearby, go look at some monitors (they have a better selection of decent monitors). On display in the store.
1440p @ 27" is a little sharper than a 24" 1080p display, but looks fairly similar. A 2160p 27" or 32" display looks significantly sharper.

I'm going to have to assume "Dell Vostro 320" was a typo, as that's an all in one desktop from ~2009 incapable of driving an external monitor.

The DisplayPort should be able to drive a 2160x3840 (4k) display but may not be able to do so in HDR color.

And stick with a 27" 1440p monitor. How clear and easy to read is most important for me.

It's just kind of a matter of balancing the deals that are out there with what you want to try to get the most bang for your buck. If you go 4K just know you need to use the DisplayPort.

So I will look for a 27" at 4K. I do think the 32 may be more than I need for on my desk.
Only place I have by me to look at, is best buy. And don't really trust their advice. Plus recent back surgery so hard for me to get out to compare.
I can go as high as about $500.00 for something that lets me see better. Not a huge rush. Just because would like to find something good on sale. Does not have to even be a great slick deal.

Just be sure that your computer is powerful enough to run something with 4K and it has the proper displayport
