This game made me cry and I still don't fully understand why. It's a beautiful game and was surprisingly emotional for me.
Never heard of it, yet it's in my Steam library and I reviewed it (which is super, super weird since I never almost never review games). Enjoy my review.

Does Epic game store have drm or require internet access? What are the alternatives?
Epic game store is the exact same sort of setup. As is xbox live, playstation network, and the Nintendo eStore. And the iOS App store and google play store. Not really sure what the point of the original warning was, pretty much the whole games industry goes through some sort of "app store", and yes...you lose everything if that app store goes away. The only exception is games that have physical disc copies and don't require online DRM, or games that also release on Good old Games (gog.com[gog.com])...but the selection through GoG is *MUCH* smaller.
I bought this game long back and it's was a different experience.. if you love this game :: Sky Children of light is a must try !!!
Played sky when it released on iOS and shelved it after completing Eden. Just got back into it at the beginning of October and have played daily since. Just replayed Journey again for the first time since it released on PS3 and it's really hard to compare. Thematically very similar, aesthetically at times too, but there's power to Journey's simplicity. Sky has too much to sell, too much to grind, to much to "see" with how often it wrestles control of the camera away from the player, etc. For being free it's worth a shot but I don't think anyone should go into it expecting something similar.

I saw an article that said Epic has *some* games that will play in offline mode, sounds like a minority though. I do try to go with gog when they have it.

Sounds like a possible pharmacological mishap. Stay safe.

Some games you can do offline while others games (regardless if it's single or not) like God of War do require the internet connection.
If the game gets removed, or epic shuts down before you have the chance to download it, then it's gone for good. Hopefully the developer would be "kind enough" to allow your single player game to be played offline should it come to that.
From Epic under standard license
"In rare cases, after you have completed a Transaction for Software the Software may be removed from the Epic Games Store (for instance, because the Developer stops supporting an online game) and become unavailable for further download or access from the Epic Games Store."
As someone else said, this game made me cry and I am not a cryer. It'll take you just a few hours to have a magical journey with some amazing moments that will stick with you. I can not recommend this game enough. When I first started dating my wife I planted her in front of this game and her reaction to it is absolutely a reason I married her.
This "game" is in a class of its own. It should get its own category called "Walkers." Because that's literally all you do - walk. There are no bosses, no enemies, weapons, creating, crafting, building, or collecting. There's no winning. There's no losing. There's no teams or communicating. There's no co-op. You literally just walk to the top of a mountain. I kept playing the game waiting for something -- anything -- to happen. It never did.
I cannot call this a "game." And I have a hard time recommending it for $1, let alone $5. It's a good game if you like pressing up on the joystick (to walk) for a couple of hours. I don't want to discourage anyone, but if you're expecting to actually do something in a game, this might disappoint you.
Obviously a lot of people like it, I wonder if people with comments like the above are at all curious why all these other people like it after playing through it. Maybe people have significantly different mindsets and it isn't always about the gameplay variables. A lot of people would think meditation is boring and not pay a cent learning it but it's generally understood there are benefits, even if one has the mistaken framing of "not good at it." In short people don't necessarily understand it even if they have a vague idea of why it may be good, and when it comes to this game it seems like people may not even have that.
Just a quick warming before you buy anything on Steam. You don't own any game you buy. You pay for the "privilege of accessing the title" only. Should you lose access regardless of reason (i.e. getting banned, steam shutdown, distributor decides to remove game, contract ends, etc. You no longer have access to such a game.
Steam already has safeguards in case they ever shut down. There are no longer physical disc PC options anymore anyways.

I'm not referring to physical media. drm still exists in downloadable games like those developed by Ubisoft and Sony studios that requires drm checks to play in addition to Steam. If the developer pulls it or goes out of business then the game is no longer downloadable regardless if Steam is still active or not. Recently, Sony removed some discovery movies since their contract expired. Anyone who bought it, no longer have access to them nor were they given options to download them.
GoG does not have DRM and the games you buy are truly 100% yours. Only other options I see is being obligated to pirate the games you own should it no longer be available for you to download or run.

Journey is absolutely worth this price though.
