That said this model has the easy mods people spend about $50 to do on the classic pro, but at the same time thermojet models like the breville bambino offer a lot more functionality, including features like pre-infusion, much faster heatup, and more consistent tempeheat up, it seems the cachet for the gaggia classic line remains "it feels like a quality appliance" but it lacks some of the very useful creature comforts, where the biggest draw is it has a commercial sized portafilter (which I'm not really convinced matters, unless sharing portafilters between multiple espresso machines is important to you, because they (and their accessories) are widely available in multiple sizes now.
That being said, I have a sh***y Gevi espresso machine from Amazon that I use daily and I'm peasant enough to not know the difference.

I'm new to home espresso machines.

Yes, the shots were way better than my $80 FB marketplace barista Express. I still get pretty good pulls from using local beans (I try to avoid any that oily). It's pretty helpful too if you weigh your beans and try to get x amount of yield in x amount of time.
I shoot for 18g in, 35g out within 25 seconds
Coffee folks can be snobs but you can get great results without spending $2k on a setup
All say focus on the grinder not the espresso machine. I ignored this advice for a very long time until I bought a decent grinder. Epic improvement. If you already have a decent machine, invest in one of the many superb manual or electric grinders before you upgrade your coffee machine. Also know that the coffee from the manual lever machines, at about the same price, is about 10x times better than this quality level.
there is also an actual boiler in side, most of espresso machine at this price (Delonghi or Breviell) uses thermoblocks.
if i were to start all over again, i would have no issue getting the Evo Pro with OTP mod and call it a day.

Easy to source parts and modify, if you want.
Just go with Gaggia.
