Keep in mind that their "extra trade credit" usually comes with a lower base trade value that offsets the increased credit. For example, last time the Series S had a trade value of around $190 that dropped to something like $130+$50 extra when the promo went live, so you actually lost value with the extra credit compared to the day before.

Damn that's a lot to read for a slick deal post that has nothing to do with trade in credit.

So many questions. So you bought both consoles, why? And why would you opt to keep the S if you have the X, which is graphically superiorand has more internal storage?

Fair questions. Bear with me on this.

After researching the value proposition between the X and S, I definitely have learned more about myself: like I'm not hardcore gamer. Just casual. Idc for PC.

Internal storage of the S has never been an issue for me. past gen games storage size are very small amazingly and a lot of folks don't realize this. Quick resume works between these games. I'm stoked about this features.

Bought the S for $138 as a secondary console in bedroom paired with the 19" 1080p TV work is perfect. The X is overkill for my needs. The S is the best value for the $.

$300 was a great deal hence the "Buy now think later" motto here in SD LOL.

I do not really care for mainstreamed games. I don't play GP regularly and Dev mode. I previously bought my OG/360 digital games years ago from the 360 era.

I don't have 4k dvd. It would be nice admittedly but livable without.

My 8 year old living room TV is 4k HDR and still works great but it does not have 120hz. To take advantage of the 120hz I gotta upgrade my TV…yeah no thanks. That is not slick deal lol.

The experience of the S is still the identical compared to the X. Same result on BC games. Again making the X overkill for my pleasure.

If I do ever want to play games on the primary console it has to have the right specs to pair well with my TV in the living room. This is what missing for me.

Because I don't have PS5 and I want the best of both worlds, along with the PS4/PS5 for game exclusivity, it just makes sense for me to not get the X altogether.

I tried really hard to enjoy my current PS4 OG but dang it is old and tiring aka anemic. the loading time and download speed are testing my patience lol. The Series S beat that out.
I truly believe the PS5 digital edition is the best primary console for my use case.

All in all, the Series X is a much better console than the S, hand down. It just doesn't make sense for my use case. And the trade in value is adding insult to injury if I opt to trade it in down the road. The Series X is meant for long term usage. Not like a rental or lease lol.
Not sure why you're getting so many downvotes. You obviously have thought about what's right for you and your situation. Kudos to you even if it's not what most people would do

You guys think $115 on a ps4 pro is worth it? At this point it's just collecting dust
I would try to sell it locally to get more money. In the physical collecting world it's prime time to collect for the system. Might get you more.

So if I'm reading this correctly, for the series s it's 110 plus the $50 extra credit?( For a non-pro member)

Pretty sure you can use trade cards towards digital curry. You can't use gift cards or your $5 monthly pro discount towards it.
Not sure on this. They changed the policy for gift cards back in Nov where you can't use them for anything that needs activation at the register (any kind of eshop credit, gift cards, etc). Hopefully that doesn't apply for trade-ins, but idk for sure

Thank you. I appreciate your kind words. Folks downvoted me for anything. I mean anything. It unbelievable but not surprising. I honestly don't care to know lol. Repped 🙂

I had a hard time unloading one a few months back for $100 cash. You might as well take the trade.

Trade credit is ok for digital currency.

Gift cards for digital currency is a no.

With either a steam card or PSN card in my cart at checkout, I get the message:

Gift Cards and Trade In Credit cannot be used to purchase

You can't do it online where pros get 5% off currency. You CAN use trade credit (not gift cards) in store to pay for game currency.

Nahhhh. Still gonna sit on my trades until another 40-50% promo comes along. Doesn't happen often but it ends up being semi worth it for my needs.
