Keep in mind that their "extra trade credit" usually comes with a lower base trade value that offsets the increased credit. For example, last time the Series S had a trade value of around $190 that dropped to something like $130+$50 extra when the promo went live, so you actually lost value with the extra credit compared to the day before.

Damn that's a lot to read for a slick deal post that has nothing to do with trade in credit.

So many questions. So you bought both consoles, why? And why would you opt to keep the S if you have the X, which is graphically superiorand has more internal storage?

Does anyone know if the bonus trade in credit stacks? Like say I'm a pro and I put the credit towards preorder title (like the new persona or final fantasy). Would I get 20% (current promo) + 20% (preorder bonus) + 10% (pro bonus)

I've had such bad experiences with marketplace.
Mine been good - don't be afraid to test it out before purchasing. Go to a Starbucks or something with power and test it out. At least have seller send you a video with time and date in the picture. Also confirm meetup time multiple time throughout day. Even get a number to text. Normally if the buyer/seller isn't quick to reply and has no good reason then it's not going to go well.

Doing simple things like that will eliminate 95% of all issues.

Why stop there? pre-order two games and get another 20%

The two 20% promos don't stack.

So if I understand this correctly,
Ps5 launch disc edition will get you
346.50 + 50 = 396.50 for pro members
And
315 + 50 = 365 for non pro members?
Or are the rates shown online including the $50 credit
Has this amount of trade in credit been confirmed correct?

Hmm. I tried to use gamestop trade in credit for $10 PSN card. It did not work.

So all 3 of these didn't work on PSN credit

$5 monthly cert
11k points (redeemable for $1 and $10 coupons)
~$160 trade in credit left over from previous trade in deal.

At this point imo if you are trading into gamestop I would have a plan to spend it all soon before they go under. Might try the steam deck deal even if I don't really want it.
Since I can't use my $5 cert and any rewards on XBox Cards, I'm not renewing my Pro this year.

Sorry mate but I had to break the text apart for easier reading.

It has to do with trade in credit for me. Like the trade in value is adding insult to injury if I opt to trade it in down the road. The Series X is meant for long term usage. Not like a rental or lease lol. but obviously I'm the minority here lol
I mean, game consoles aren't really meant to hold their value. This generation was definitely an outlier because of the extreme shortages when they released in 2020. Hell, people were still selling their used consoles nearly 1-year later for more than what they paid for them.

But now that stock has caught up and surpassed demand, we're back in the real world. Just this past holiday season you could get either a Series X or PS5, brand new, and with a game included, for $300. GameStop is currently offering $281 with this promo. You can't really expect to do much better, and especially not if you're selling to GameStop of all places.

If you ask me, a $19 loss (plus whatever your taxes were) isn't all that bad, and if your console included a game when you purchased, you get to keep that as well.

If the Series X isn't for you, that's fine, but I think expecting it to retain some kind of value like 95%+ of your purchase price is just gonna end up disappointing you.

Fair argument. Thank you for sharing.

I didn't make that post, but I also have both consoles and I can totally understand that decision. I got a Series X when it first came out and really enjoy it. I got a Series S on that ~$150 Verizon deal last year. I got the Series S for an older (non-smart) TV. I don't really see too much of a difference in the visuals between the S and X, nor do I have too much trouble managing the storage on the Series S (I mostly just play one single player game at a time).

I'm not going to get rid of my Series X though. I find the disc drive on it to be helpful every once in a while.

stores like Target had the X for 350 and people used coupons to bring the price down. Got one for $285.

Sold my PS4 slim 1 tb a couple years ago for around $300 on eBay. I think at that time, PS5 consoles were still hard to find and PS4 consoles as well. I'm glad I went that route instead of holding onto the console since I'm sure trade in now would be under $100 for it lol.
