Device unlock:

Once activated, put the sim in another unlocked phone, make a call, wait a little and check you att account. When your other phone show up in your account, can request unlock of S22 at
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/. Choose not att customer in unlock page. Device will immediately unlock.

I don't quite understand. Do you mean that the sim is first put in the new S22 to activate and then taken out and put in another unlocked phone? TIA.

The most recent S22 ATT thread says 60 days of service needed before unlocking. Are you sure it can be unlocked immediately?

Yes. This unlock process has nothing to do with new or old account.

The phone is already ATT locked. You need to activated it first. It can't be activated with other carrier. Once your account is registered with another phone, you can unlock S22 as none ATT customer because it's not associated with any account.

That's ATT official policy. This is a trick to make the phone not registered with ATT so you can unlock it as non ATT customer.

Sometimes carrier branded phones play funny with other carriers after unlock. Since this is listed under the same S22 with unlocked, att and verizon variants, I think it will be the same as factory unlocked phone without missing bands. But I don't have this particular phone, can't say for sure.

Have you tried this recently? People on other boards are suggesting that ATT policy on unlocking is tightened recently and requires entire 60 day. I need it to use it internationally so have to know what my chances are. Thanks

I unlocked an s21 fe in Dec. After taking the phone off my account, the unlock page said the imei was attached to an account. Had to chat, the chat rep unlocked it for me.
