I'm not saying buy this one in particular, but we just spent $125 on a vitamix immersion blender thinking it would change our lives.. ain't a darn thing changed. I wanted to make pesto but not one store within 50 miles has fresh basil. I tried to use it for shakes and its much worse than just using a magic bullet. We bought the chopper attachment for $42. Thats probably the only good use we have so far, chopping all veggies for 1 meal at once. Our food processor is better for bulk but this works for quick dinners. Is that worth close to $180 after tax? Not yet. Im going to have to look up more recipes.

My advice, buy cheap. If it breaks on you, think about spending a ton more on a better model at that point. Some people will, but most people will put this in a drawer and forget about it

I paid a couple of bucks less for this model and it's been great (aside from very easily distributing the items you're mixing all over the house if you let it get too close to the bottom of a container, I think that is pretty common though, and it has a separate mixing container that works very well), I'm guessing it is one of those fly-by-night companies who pays for good reviews and hence got banned.
