This is about the same price as the bare tool on sale unless you hack it. Been eyeing this for work. Guess I have no reason not to at this price lol

Also is not the same impact
What's the major difference between them? Both are brushless, have the same warranty, and around the same torque.

No speed selector, significantly slower maximum RPM, also much bigger ala the 845 frame. I really want to pull the trigger but the 15 doll hair ship and having to deal with unloading another battery, charger and my 887 is making me think twice.

the toque is not the same, not even close. don't go by the "specs". dewalt just pulls their specs out of their a** holes and not based on any reality. if you want actual torque numbers you can find multiple 3rd parties that dyno'd all these tools. DCF850 is by far the most powerful 1/4" impact dewalt makes.

dewalt also claims that DCD999 is about 10% more powerful than the DCD998, when in reality they are the same exact tool with a different stickers on them.

in addition to that, the 850 has a much shorted head, a speed selector with an automatic mode. the 840 is junk. DCF845 is the comparable XR version of the 840, and even that one isn't as good. the main selling feature of the 850 is the small profile.

This is more compact and lighter and you can adjust the speeds.

Dang, kinda deal I was looking for a couple years back. Already have an XR and Milwaukee brushless impact drivers. Held one of these at Home Depot. I thought the Milwaukee was small, this DeWalt felt unreal. And specs are very good. Only thing, maybe it were two smaller batteries instead of one big one, keep the weight small. But looks like an awesome deal. My XR with 2.0amp battery lasts a good while. 5.0amp will go on forever, albeit a bit heavier. I'll be jelly for those of you who get one.

Ehh, I've got a heavy duty Milwaukee for the tougher bolts I deal with. I like the lighter weight of the Dewalt I currently have but it's a brushed model that's wearing out.

I thought the Atomic line wasn't as good as the normal XR line. Is that not true here?
