Seems to me like someone just stole our Hilton Honors login information. Logging in at https://www.hilton.com still shows me at the lowest tier, not Silver.

Personally I think Hilton has the weakest tier recognition. The breakfast fiasco from last year -- where they took away the free breakfast perk in exchange for a lousy property credit was the last straw for me. I suspect this is largely due to the AMEX Aspire card, which sells top-tier Diamond status for $550.

Generally, rewards programs aside, I think Hilton excels at the lower levels (Hamptons, Homewoods, etc) versus Marriott and Hyatt. Their brands are really consistent, hotels are generally well kept, etc. At the higher levels, think LXR, Curio, Conrad, etc... Hilton almost always disappoints me. The hotels in this range are either really tired, have borderline service, or are new-ish with impressive lobbies but cheap-o rooms that were slapped together.

I went to Hyatt and I haven't looked back. Totally get that doesn't work for everyone given their footprint, but it has worked for me.

Seems legit to me. Navan is a business travel portal service and Eloqua is the marketing firm that provided the perk, both are mentioned in the URL tracking parameters. I guess time will tell

Not necessarily - there have been times I chose to stay at Hilton cuz they had a nicer gym, things like that but frankly there probably aren't many places you won't find a nice Hilton next to a nice Marriott, right? But once you get tied into one program, best to try and maximize it.
Disagree. Maybe if you strictly travel in the US. In foreign cities, usually there's not a a same quality Marriott in the same neighborhood and price with a Hilton. One city may have a better Hilton and the other will have a better Marriott and another will have a better ihg.

Mine does say Silver, but I am going to change my password anyways.

Does anyone else not get the Silver status?
I didn't get Silver right away. I logged out of the Hilton app. Went to the Hilton website, logged in, changed my password, verified it was Silver, logged out. Then went back to Hilton app, logged in with new password and saw my status changed to Silver.

I think Hilton has one of the worst rewards tier programs but overall I enjoy the quality of my stay the best compared to other hotels 🤷 ♀️. Embassy suites and the complimentary happy hour is an excellent value.

Looks like the status match is currently inactive but FYI up until recently you could go to https://www.frontierstatusmatch.com/ and match your status through partners including Hilton Honors to other rewards programs.

I had Hilton Gold status through my Amex Platinum and matched that to Frontier Elite 50k/Platinum which included a carry-on and checked bag, and seat selection. I'm assuming Hilton Silver status would probably match up with Elite Gold which still has a free checked bag, though I can't check for sure since the match is currently inactive. Still, not a bad deal for something free, if/when they bring it back.
Please explain what you mean by "status match is currently inactive". Are you saying this promo isn't working? How can you tell?

Hilton gold is certainly better than Marriott gold (which is not much). At least with hilton, you get breakfast with gold.

I changed my password to be safe, but, after doing that in the app, I checked my status in the app, and it was upgraded to silver. So I'm guessing it's legit.

Just seems odd that slickdeals is the only thread that is showing this silver. No other sites are discussing it. Just saying - to go to be true?

I jumped on this early before realizing about the possible validity of this. For those who haven't yet, perhaps try to log into Hilton ahead of time before going through the link and see if the promo page still ask you to log in again.

I was able to use Marriot Gold Elite for 50K elite status with Frontier for $99.

This is the correct answer. This is my 20th year with Hilton, and for the last 14 years I've been Diamond, the highest tier. You summarized my thoughts and experiences perfectly. Rewards and benefits have decreased along with the quality of stay. The lower tiers like Hampton and Home2 are actually the cleanest and often newest in the chain. My former favorites Embassy, Hilton and Curio are often stale and needlessly pretentious. The mid-tier brands are ripoffs with few perks. The new breakfast changes are a complete disincentive, and points stays are unjustifiably getting more expensive. I could go on, but I'm looking for a reason to stay at other brands. However, between travel partners and credit cards, I'm very entrenched in the Hilton ecosystem, earning about 35,000 points per month outside of direct Hilton sources.

Well...I can say the same about marriott Smilie Upgrading to a suite - all the suites are always busy. 4pm late check out? We can do 2pm maximum. And that's at $500-$1000 per night hotels. The moment they pull free breakfast the status will make no sense whatsoever.

Thoughts on Hilton vs Marriott? I do about 60 nights a year and have titanium status with Marriott. Wondering if it's worth the swap to Hilton.
Marriot, or Hyatt, never Hilton
