Generally, rewards programs aside, I think Hilton excels at the lower levels (Hamptons, Homewoods, etc) versus Marriott and Hyatt. Their brands are really consistent, hotels are generally well kept, etc. At the higher levels, think LXR, Curio, Conrad, etc... Hilton almost always disappoints me. The hotels in this range are either really tired, have borderline service, or are new-ish with impressive lobbies but cheap-o rooms that were slapped together.
I went to Hyatt and I haven't looked back. Totally get that doesn't work for everyone given their footprint, but it has worked for me.

I think you are unaware nobody has a time machine, so what they offered years ago is of no relevance to which program is better today
Which was the actual topic.
No, your opinion is the 2018 Marriott program is better than the 2023 Hilton one.
I completely agree and previously said so. Just as the 2018 Hilton program was better than the 2023 Marriott one.
But again, lacking a time machine, it's a pointless thing to bring up.
The 2023 programs of each are a totally different story.
BOTH have devalued. Marriott has devalued more.
Today it is (slightly) easier to earn a (slightly) higher value in Hilton points per dollar spent at Hilton than it is Marriott points per dollar spent at Marriott.
And I've shown you the math already (3 times now) but you just keep ignoring it and talking about how it "used to be"
It's not anymore though.
I had to stay at a Comfort Inn recently because everything was sold out and it was loads better than any Hilton bed I've ever slept in. Made me wake up and think I need to try anything superchain brand.
I'm not even talking about the Free Silver status - but "if you stay 8 nights by April 29, 2024, you'll earn Gold Status through March 2026." - easy Gold for not 1 year, but more than 2 years from now. That is brutal if someone earned that organically, or even for the ones who get it with Amex Platinum spending $700 on Annual fees.

If you care about status via credit card you'd go Amex Aspire, not Amex Plat- which gets you diamond and lounge access plus is easier to stay ahead of its AF with its various credits.
Realistically, Silver gets you nothing you "lose out" on by everyone having it-- it's basically a 20% earn bonus on stays, free bottled water at check in, and 5th night free on reward stays.
Gold also 2 of 3 benefits don't care if everyone is gold- free breakfast and a larger bonus for stays... only space-available room upgrades are impacted by everyone having it and those were already rare anyway besides maybe "higher floor"-- certainly not anything (the 'upgrades' that is) that I'd pay literally any amount of actual $ for.
I've switched to whatever brand looks best in the area I'm staying and just taking advantage of CC rewards.

Hampton Inn offers free breakfast to all guests.
MANY other Hilton brands do not- it's a paid breakfast. If you've got high enough Hilton status you give them your room # and you're covered.
Same way it works for Marriott... some Marriott owned brands it's free for everyone-- others it's paid and your status if high enough waives that cost.
SOME Hilton brands have now switched that status-only free breakfast to a food and beverage credit. This is bad for some because it isn't always enough to cover the cost of breakfast- but good for others who don't usually EAT breakfast because they can use it for other things.
The hotel being in the US or outside it also can vary this benefit.
Decent overview of all this here:
