Negative, tried multiple browsers and various answers to the questions, but the app always bonked out. Tried calling but they won't do apps over the phone. The rep said it probably has something to do with me having both personal and business chase credit cards that are tired to the same web login, seems like a lame excuse, but who knows.
I have an appt at the local branch tomorrow. One thing that surprised me was the branch manager called me after I made the appointment to ask questions about my business. I have a sole prop and told him the name of the business which is the same as what's on my chase business cards. He then asked have I registered the name with the state? I said no, it's just a sole prop so no need, plus I already have a chase business card under that business name. He said no dice for a checking account, it had to be registered. I said, well fine, I'll just register it under my name since it's a sole prop using my ss# so it really doesn't matter. He begrudgingly said ok... It felt like a bizarre interaction. Almost like he didn't want to open the account for me to get the bonus. Also it's an hour and a half appointment which he demanded lol. Wish me luck tomorrow, it's already starting to feel like it's not worth it...
I opened a business account with them last month and called the customer service number today to see if they would honor this change in promotion. They told me that I need to go to a physical location and speak with a business relations manager to see if they could change it. So I guess I'll be reporting back once that happens.
I'm late to the game on seeing this. I just opened a new account on Friday with the $300 offer. I just called the banker who opened my account on Friday, and she cancelled the $300 offer and applied the $400. No problem to change the offer.

I just finished up at the local branch and I was successful in getting the $400 promo applied to the business checking account. Now I just have to deposit the $2K and make the 5 transactions to get the reward.
I got my business checking account using my SS# as a sole-prop. The whole process took almost 2 hours and I left with a binder of paperwork. If you go the sole-prop route you should register your company under your own name, unless you've already registered your business with the state. As the other SD'er said, there's a ton of questions and hoops to jump through for the account. Overall I'd say it was marginally worth my time. The online promos are so much for efficient when playing the rewards game.
Is registering the business with the state the same as getting EIN from the IRS? I did pay local tax by filing on the website.

Nope it's not, an EIN doesn't mean you registered with the state. States have different regulations, but by nature of being a sole proprietor your business is unregistered even if you have an EIN. Registering your business with your state will require paperwork outside of whatever you did to become a sole proprietor.
Personally, I went in with just my EIN and 2 forms of personal ID and was able to get it. It sounds like registering the business with your own name in the state might have helped other SDer's but it wasn't necessary at my branch. I would say, if you are doing business under any other name (DBA) then you'll need to provide documents of that when you go. Hope this was helpful.
online gave me the boot. told me to go into branch. i checked about 5 branches, soonest appointment was7-10 days away, on any of those.
So i decided to just go into my local, and after waiting an hour, they were able to fit me in for tuesday.
Hopefully they honor the $400.
BTW: Does the $100 chase reference link also work?

In ohio, the name of a sole proprietor business is called a fictitious name, and must be registered with state. Takes 10 minutes costs $40

"sole proprietor" does not require to register to any state unless you need a trade name.
In Texas, it is called "assumed name", it is local county's business, not at state level. County office may charge $5~$50 to get assumed name certificate depends on the county
Like to know as well.
Also, any repercussions while filling taxes?
this can be a sole proprietorship and your home address is where you do that! you will get a 1099 int to file with your taxes. so deduct 20% from the bonus for that..now on business CC there is no tax because its payed out in points so you keep 100% of it and taxes dont come into play at all. all in all chase is the easiest to deal with and meet requirements.. easy $$$

Points on a business credit card are not quite so simple as on a business card. See some discussion here.[marcumllp.com]

I have no comment as to whether it's possible to open the card using an SSN rather than an EIN; it is possible to have a sole proprietorship without an EIN. But an EIN (Employer Identification Number) is never an SSN (Social Security Number), nor vice-versa, although both are TINs (Taxpayer Identification Numbers).
There's also a $750 bonus for business accounts. Just Google Chase 750 business bonus

Thank you for making it clear. I guess not everyone has 30k laying around to make $750. when you start getting into larger amounts sitting there in a checking account you have to take into account lost interest . Subtract the interest for 33ish days at 5% interest that's about $135 in lost interest so there's that to consider. Still better off if you have the cash laying around to do the $750 offer . I usually transfer the two or three days early before its required to be in there so on the 28th day and then pull it out on first or second day after so the 61st or 62nd day after account opening

Or is it just getting a free EIN from the IRS.
Unclear about the paper work since sole prop, I believe, can just use SSN and does not need register for anything
You SSN may already been connected with your personal account profile...
