If you start to make a booking, during the process, shows a 50k miles and 500 statement credit. 3k spend in 6 months
Depending on how you value statement credit / miles, the 50k/500 is better.
You do not need to finish the actual booking to get the credit card. At the end, it allows you to select card to book the flight, and an option to cancel the booking. 24hr flight cancelation rule would apply if you booked it a month or so in advance, as well.

Got card in July, did not get "ineligible" popup. Not sure if I have never had Delta Gold Amex before (only see Delta Platinum, or just more than 7-8 years since having same card (AMEX's "lifetime"). $500 came on first Delta purchase, 50,000 pts came after $3000 in purchases. Great deal.
