Small children can eat them requiring lifesaving medical intervention. Ok, so be safe when using them and don't leave kids unsupervised, great idea. So... let's just fire these things all around the house? Now a visiting child or animal can find them days later in the corner behind the door or under the couch?
Or if you think using them outside would be better... Animals can eat them, or they could end up in the sewer drain and that's no great shakes either.
I drink, I eat meat, and I make plenty of questionable life choices but the existence of these seems absolutely nutty. Especially when people are trying to get the beads banned in the first place. Very big downside for such low upside. I hope I'm wrong and these are some kind of 2024 water beads that aren't dangerous.
what happens to these once they are shot and hit the ground? Do they somehow disintegrate? I'd hate to have hundreds of these little buggers all over my complex...

This is the description of a generic gel beads:
"These water beads are made of polymer material, which is safe, 100% biodegradable, non-flammable, and durable for long time use.The gel beads will grow to stable 9-11mm in diameter after soaking in water for 4 hours, which are perfect for gel toy blaster. When it shatters, the water balls will slowly volatilize, do not cause pollution or any kind of harms to health and environment. Can be used as decorative accessories for home, we suggest placing the beads in a sensory box, glass vase, jar or transparent container, which will improve the aesthetics of your indoor and outdoor decorations."

But the blaster I bought shoots so hard that they explode on impact.
The plus side of that is when they dry up, it will be near invisible as they are already super tiny before you soak them to normal size. I'd say they are about the size of a tiny crumb. or like if you cut the tip off a grain of rice. I was shocked at how tiny it was when dehydrated. so I don't think you have to worry about kids picking them up and eating them. the only time would be if they ate them out of the packaging.
Added: Just got two boxes in the mail today. (01.06.2024)
it's simple, rapid fire, and goes thru the gel beads quickly as it's full auto when the trigger is held. so far it's great.
the bad news is the battery is not a simple standard battery. it's a proprietary battery and uses a quick disconnect clip. when charging the battery you need to remove it from the gun and plug it in. over time I think the clip will break which may become loose when playing.
also it's a very basic charger. there aren't any LED lights to let you know when it's fully charged. nor does it look like it will stop charging once it's full. there aren't any LED battery lights on the gun either so you won't know what the battery level is when playing.
the instructions say charge a minimum of 4 hours and maximum of 6 hours. if it's nearly full I think a 6 hour charge will overcharge the battery.
it's not exactly what I was thinking of when it says rechargeable battery. I was hoping it had a USB micro at the very least. or rechargeable AA batteries that I can swap with my own rechargeable AA batteries.
I think it will last a good while as long as you remember not to overcharge the batteries and its pretty good for $5 a gun. glad I bought two boxes
if someone is more electronically tech savvy they should easily be able to swap out the battery pack with someone better. it the batteries go out inthink I might try my hand at swapping it out.
