Your college kid should qualify for free e-filling from a number of sites. Stop giving these scumbags money. All the free versions have the same full filing features of Premium.
Scumbags? They provide software that proviees a service. $8 - $20 is certainly worth not dealing with paper returns.

If you want to call names, the real fault is in the system where the burden is on us to tell the government what we owe them.

Is the e-file for a State included in the price?
NO! It's not included.. and that's the scammy part of H&R software.

Last year, they wanted $39 to e-File, even on H&R Premium!

Screw them... I mailed it in... and will NEVER USE H&R SOFTWARE AGAIN!

Wow! Best deal.. and early, too. Like some others, I got on the earlier deal. But "that" deal was the best that happened last year.

But now this begs for next year, will we get this specific type deal again? Seems like I will now wait for the best deal by mid-Jan 2025.

I think you are confusing the cost of the state program with the e-file cost. The state program by itself is $39.95. The cost to e-file per state is $20 per their website: "After you complete your state tax return with the H&R Block state program, you will pay $19.95 per state (except NY) to e-file.*"

Worried I need premiere but tempted. I had a few stock trades this year.
I remember seeing on like the 2021 feature matrix that it had investments only on the premium tier. But this year shows investments on both deluxe and state. The extras on premium (above deluxe) are listed as 'Owned rental property' and 'Self employed or freelancer'. https://www.hrblock.com/tax-software/

So I dunno, I have kept out of doing stock market stuff after 2021 so I didn't have to deal with tax crap.

Great deal, since these gift cards are relevant to me the effective cost is only $7.99. Best deal I've got on this software any year.

Seems you will get hit with a $20 fee to e-file your state return though unless you are filing in just NY.
You don't have to pay the $20 fee. Just put a couple stamps on an envelope and mail it in. They'll provide you with the address.

Technically, you don't even need Deluxe. All versions let you fill out all forms and schedules by hand, the version just determines which ones the software prompts you for and fills out for you. So you can still file Schedule D with Basic, you just might not be covered by Block's audit support.

They are still available, it looks like the MOD posted wrong links for UBER, CHIPOTLE and DOORDASH.
